Welcome to FEA! May God minister unto the needs in your life today as we minister unto Him together.
During the past week we’ve all been watching with concern as Hurricane Harvey ravaged the countless communities and cities in South Texas. Final reports indicate that the storm’s heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding were unprecedented and exceeding expectations by far. ABC News reported that the United States government deployed over 3,000 national and state guard service members, as well as 500 vehicles and 14 aircrafts to assist in rescue and recovery operations.
Although it is reassuring to see the ways government workers and officials have responded to the disaster, many still wonder if there is anything they can do to help. From so far away, it is easy for us to feel powerless. Often, our immediate reaction is to try to find the nearest plane or some other mode of transport and hope that our presence at the scene of the crisis will ultimately help serve those in need. Or, it may be the exact opposite, we may just sit anxiously watching the television reports, wringing our hands in frustration and do nothing.
However, there is something that we all can do as Christians. We can all pray. As followers of Jesus Christ, our first inclination in times of struggle, strife and disaster should be to fix our eyes not on the disaster itself, but rather on our God and Father who Himself is a present help in trouble. When we find ourselves slipping into dangerous patterns of worry on behalf of those in need, prayer is our best and surest remedy. As I always tell you, when we talk to God we are talking to somebody who can do something about everything. Nothing is beyond Him. So let us pray for the victims and their families. Pray for needed provision and for God’s hand of preservation to keep people from diseases. Most of all, pray that as a result of this crisis individuals will submit themselves to Almighty God.
After we have prayed, we need to follow Jesus as He guides us in creative ways to help in the situation. This can be an opportunity for God’s goodness to be manifested through us. Amen!

10 Reasons David is Called “A Man After God’s Own Heart”
Acts 13:22 says, “After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.‘”
The following words describe the heart of David as seen in his own writings: (All verses New International Version)
Humble – Lowborn men are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie; if weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath. Psalm 62:9
Reverent – I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. Psalm 18:3
Respectful – Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and my body with grief. Psalm 31:9
Trusting – The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1
Loving – I love you, O Lord, my strength. Psalm 18:1
Devoted – You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. Psalm 4:7
Recognition – I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders. Psalm 9:1
Faithful – Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:6
Obedient – Give me understanding, and I will keep your law and obey it with all my heart. Psalm 119:34
Repentant – For the sake of your name, O Lord, forgive my iniquity, though it is great. Psalm 25:11
David’s example is a great road map for how we are to live our life.
Which of these areas need your greatest attention for improvement?
