BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY JUNE 25, 2017

Welcome to FEA where we are living the life of the world overcomer. May you overcome today and every day.

Kenya’s government has recently banned six animated shows on Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network! This is indeed good news for the people of God not only in Kenya but around the world! The following shows “The Loud House,” “The Legend of Korra,” “Hey Arnold,” “Steven Universe,” “Adventure Time” and “Clarence” have been identified as glorifying homosexual behavior and damaging the moral judgment of children.

“The Legend of Korra” featured a same-sex kiss in one of the episodes and a married gay couple on “The Loud House.” It is evident that the children’s programs are designed to promote the LGBT agenda in the Kenya according to a statement made by the Kenya Film Classification Board. Kenya is a predominantly Christian country where same-sex sexual acts are illegal and offenders face the threat of imprisonment.

Cartoon shows that promote LGBT agenda have also been boycotted by conservative Christian groups in the United States. In May, a petition was launched against Disney XD by One Million Moms after the network portrayed several homosexual kisses in the popular cartoon “Stars vs. The Forces of Evil.”

Let us as parents take our stand against the devil as he seeks to infiltrate his evil into the minds of our children in this subtle way. Let us guard their eyes and ears as God expects us to do. We must teach our children and grandchildren the Word of God even as soon as they begin to talk. They are living in very crucial times. But God’s word is more powerful than any work of darkness. As we teach them the word of God, He will be able to channel them in the right direction. Jesus said, “And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” (Jn. 8:32).

John

Who wrote the book?
Not surprisingly, the gospel of John never provides the name of its author. Such identifications were not made in any of the other three biblical gospels either. However, two significant factors point to the identification of John as the author. First, the book itself identifies the author as the disciple whom Jesus loved. This description likely pointed to John for three reasons: the author had to be one of the twelve disciples because he was an eyewitness to the events in the gospel (John 21:24); he was probably one of the inner circle of three disciples (James, John, and Peter) because he was among the first Mary told of the resurrection (20:1–10); and this disciple is distinguished from Peter in the book, while James died too soon after the resurrection to be the author. The second significant evidence for John’s authorship is the unanimous testimony of early Christians, among them the second-century Christian Irenaeus, who declared that John was the disciple who laid his head on Jesus—the disciple “whom Jesus loved” (13:23)—and the author of the gospel.

Where are we?
In Christian tradition, John’s gospel has always been referred to as the fourth gospel, meaning it was composed after the other three. Polycarp, a second-century Christian martyr who knew John personally, told Irenaeus that John had written the book during the apostle’s time serving the church in Ephesus. These factors suggest that John wrote the book between AD 85 and AD 95.

Why is John so important?
John did not include the nativity story in his gospel; instead, he introduced his book by going back even further into history. Invoking the “in the beginning” language of Genesis 1:1, John made a direct link between the nature of God and the nature of the Word, Jesus Christ. The emphasis on the deity of Christ is a striking quality of John’s gospel. It also comes through clearly elsewhere in the book, particularly in John 8:58 when Jesus claimed the divine name—“I am”—for Himself, which led an angry mob of Jews to try and kill Him for blasphemy.

OVERCOMER: Living a Life of Victory!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY JUNE 18, 2017

Greetings to all in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Let us rejoice in Him and be glad today.

The most widely accepted story on the origin of Father’s Day comes from Spokane, Washington. Sonora Smart Dodd, who grew up without a mother, was looking for a way to publicly recognize, thank and honor her father who had raised her and her five siblings single-handedly. She brought the idea to her pastor and church brethren. They gladly embraced the idea and held the first Father’s Day celebration on June 19, 1909.

Father’s Day was established with noble intentions. However, it is impossible for us to improve on the Scriptures. Ephesians 6: 1 – 3 states, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise, that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” Here we are made aware of the two essential blessings which God attaches to honoring our father and mother. They are success and longevity. What great blessings!

Because there is a link between honoring our parents and honoring God, we need to be aware of the unintended consequences of establishing one day to honor parents. People tend to forget the history that led to the establishment of this day and begin to act as if it is the only day that we need to honor our father. We can therefore see how the law of unintended consequences can impact this relationship. For instance, if we are not careful, the term “Lord’s Day” can come to mean Sunday is the only day that belongs to God and, therefore, is the only time we pause to worship, praise and honor Him. Left uncorrected, this concept can take root and lead one to falsely believe that God is pleased if we only pause once a week for an hour or two to honor Him, when God intends for it to be a daily thing. It is the same with honoring our father; God intends for it to be a daily thing.

We are thankful to God for fathers and the fact that we can pause on this day annually to joyfully acknowledge the blessing of fatherhood. May God help us to obey Him and be appreciative of our father this and every day.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

DAD
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the eagle’s flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need.
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it… “DAD”

OVERCOMER: Living a Life of Victory!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY JUNE 11, 2017

Greetings to all in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Let us make His praise glorious today.

According to an article in Christian Post, one of the benefits of attending church is that you have better health and live longer than those who do not. This is the result of a recent study by Vanderbilt University professor Marino Bruce who is also the associate director of Vanderbilt’s Center for Research on Men’s Health.

In a video posted to You Tube by the university, Bruce said, “We found in our study that actually attending church is actually good for your health, particularly for those who are between the ages of 40 and 65.” Middle aged adults who attend church reduce their mortality by 55 percent. He further pointed out that people “who did not attend church at all, were twice as likely to die prematurely than those who attended church at some point during the last year.”

The study entitled “Church Attendance, Allostatic Load and Mortality in Middle Aged Adults,” used information from the National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey involving 5,449 participants, both men and women. It looked at the participants’ worship attendance, mortality, allostatic load and social support. Allostatic load is the wear and tear of the body which builds up as a person is exposed to repeated or chronic stress. The professor says he would like to also study the effect of holiness on a person’s health. It is believed that when you feel good about yourself, you eat better and take good care of yourself, he argues.

Another study published last year showed that American women who attend a church service once a week or more are five times less likely to commit suicide compared with those who never go to a religious gathering. The study had 89,708 women aged 30 to 55 years from across the United States as participants. It was published in July in JAMA Psychiatry.

Let us obey the instruction which God’s Word gives us in Hebrews 10:25 and not forsake the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some is. Evidently it is beneficial not only for your spirit, but also for your body and soul.

OVERCOMER: Living a Life of Victory!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY JUNE 04, 2017

Welcome to FEA where we are holding forth the Word of life. May the life of God come into your heart and world today.

Last Friday, 10 masked Islamic State militants stopped a bus on its way to the Monastery of Saint Samuel the Confessor made the victims walk out, and asked each of them, including the children, whether they were Christians. According to Father Rashed, the victims “were asked to renounce their Christian faith and profess belief in Islam, but all of them — even the children — refused. Each was killed in cold blood with a gunshot to the head or the throat.”

This massacre of 29 Coptic Christians took place at the start of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. This was another devastating blow to Egypt’s minority Copts, who in the past year have suffered a number of massacres at the hands of radicals, including Palm Sunday church bombings that killed 46 believers.

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi has tried to assure Coptic Pope Towadros II that the attackers in the latest tragedy will be punished. ISIS has been killing Christians specifically for their faith throughout Egypt, Iraq and Syria. Islamists have murdered Christians for refusing to deny their faith in Jesus on numerous occasions.

In Syria, a man named George did not allow his Muslim neighbors to hide him when extremists came looking for Christians. He told his mother Jesus said, “If you deny me I will deny you.” He willingly laid his life down. His mother was even denied the kindness of burying his body.

Brethren, let us pray earnestly for our brothers and sisters in the Middle East who are now faced with death because of their faith in Christ. Pray that their faith would grow stronger in the face of the present difficulty. Jesus said “Whoever confesses me before men, I will confess him before my Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies me before men I will deny him before my Father who is in heaven.” (Mt. 10:32-33) Amen!

OVERCOMER: Living a Life of Victory!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY MAY 28, 2017

Greetings to you in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! We are so happy to be gathered together once again.

According to a recent article in the Christian Post, Fremont Public Schools recently halted the Release Time Bible Study program after it had received complaints from the Michigan Association of Civil Rights Activists (MACRA). However, earlier this month, the school district’s lawyers advised that the program be canceled altogether after MACRA told the school district that it had received a complaint that the school was “promoting religion” because it was handing out fliers advertising the program to parents. The program was conducted at a local church and students were granted permission to leave during lunchtime to participate in it. The program had been ongoing for the past 10 years at two elementary public schools in Fremont.

News of the program’s cancellation was met with opposition by some parents and Pastor John Perkins who runs the program. On behalf of Pastor Perkins, attorney Timothy Denney sent a demand letter to Superintendent Ken Haggart last Friday. The letter explained that the school’s move to cancel the Bible study program came despite the fact that there was solid legal justification for it to continue. Denney pointed out that a Michigan law authorizes the release of public school students for released time religious instruction for up to two hours per week, as long as parents and guardians give permission.

Denny further added that both the Michigan Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court have approved the release of public school students for off-campus religious classes. Such classes are referred to as “released time” classes. He also demanded that the school district makes it clear to news outlets that the school has determined, after a review, that the release of students to the Bible program is consistent with state and federal law.

The devil does not want our young people to have access to the Word of God. “How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to your Word.” (Ps. 119:9). Let us pray that this Bible study program will be quickly restored for the benefit of these young students.

OVERCOMER: Living a Life of Victory!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY MAY 21, 2017

Greetings to you in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! We are so happy to be gathered together once again.

According to The Smithsonian Channel documentary series entitled “Secrets”, new and “very compelling” evidence has now emerged to prove that the Tower of Babel, as mentioned in the book of Genesis, actually existed. Whether the Tower of Babel really existed has been a hot topic of debate for some time among Biblical scholars. But “now, a remarkable stone tablet never before shown on film appears to settle that question,” reported the Smithsonian magazine as it featured the video on its website.

The tablet, which dates to about 600 B.C., is from the private collection of Norwegian businessman Martin Schøyen. According to Andrew George, professor of Babylonian history at the University of London, the tablet looks like a pyramid-like structure, with a depiction of King Nebuchadnezzar II, the ruler of Babylon from 605-562 B.C.

The builders in Genesis 11:4 said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the sky, and so make a name for ourselves; otherwise we shall be scattered all over the Earth.” The following verses state: “But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other…That is why it was called Babel …”

With God all things are possible and He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He confused the languages in Genesis so that the people could not continue to erect the Tower of Babel, but He did the opposite in Acts 2, on the Day of Pentecost, when he was establishing the most powerful body in the earth – the church. He caused the 120 people gathered in the upper room to speak languages that they had not learned, but which were readily understood by people of various languages. The Bible is true. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God will stand forever. Isaiah 40:7

OVERCOMER: Living a Life of Victory!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY MAY 14, 2017

Greetings to you in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! May your hearts be blessed and enriched today. And may the hearts of all the mothers be specially blessed.

In the year 1907, in a little town in Taylor County, West Virginia, a lady named Anna Jarvis began a campaign to establish a national Mother’s Day. This special day would fall on the anniversary of her mother’s death. So on May 10, 1908, the day was observed in Philadelphia Pennsylvania where Anna had recently relocated. But it was not until 1914 that President Woodrow Wilson made the official declaration to the nation that every second Sunday of May would be devoted to the honor of mothers.

Mother’s Day is a special day in which we take time to honor these special women who helped to make a difference in our lives. God created women as the ones to bear children. But, there is more that goes into being a mother than the biology aspect. There has to be nurturing, training and teaching of children. It is an awesome responsibility and must be celebrated for what it is.

God uses mothers to show us many important things about Himself. The unconditional love which He gave mothers for their children is probably the closest thing on earth to His incredible love for us. The gentle tenderness a mother expresses in handling her newborn baby is so reminiscent of the tender loving care God shows to us. The sincere sympathy which she demonstrates when her children’s knees are bruised and when their hearts are sorrowful, is like the compassion which God has for us. Also the sacrificial unselfishness which mothers show time and time again toward their children, reminds us of how benevolent God has been to us. The soft special kisses and the sweet smiles that they so generously give can help us to understand and appreciate the joy which God has designed for families in this earth and for His children forever.

In closing, let me share a true story with you. A group of men was once discussing different versions of the Bible. After they were finished giving their opinions of each version, one of the men who had been silent throughout, spoke and said, “The best version of the Bible is the one my mother lived.”

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL MOTHERS!

A litany for Mothers

Eve our first mother – thank you for stepping out and being the first to understand the complexities of life.

Sarah, Hannah and Elizabeth – thank you for your patience and courage in waiting for a miracle. May all people longing for children be strengthened by your stories and comforted in their pain.

Hagar – thank you for your resolve in the face of exile. May all mothers who are forced to flee or are forgotten be given hope in you.

Rebecca – thank you for your flexibility. Let us remember all mothers who have to raise their children in a different country or far from their relatives and who feel isolated.

Rachel- you carried the burden of grief and wept for your children. Hold the hands of all those mothers who weep for their children – children who have gone missing, who have died or are lost to them in other ways.

Jochebed – you used wisdom and insight to protect your children. Give to all mothers this wisdom and insight in the bringing up of their children, especially in vulnerable times.

Naomi and Ruth – you showed that love can conquer all trials. Help all mothers to love constantly when life seems impossible and despair weighs hard upon their souls.

Mary- the new Eve whose dyes’ to God changed our world forever. Thank you for sheltering the Holy One all those years ago, for your faithful love and tender care of God’s most precious Son. May we never forget that in your giving is our greatest receiving of the gift of life wrapped in a manger and in a tomb. May we know the true cost of relationship by holding our faith in Christ deep within our hearts as you once held him deep within your womb. Amen

OVERCOMER: Living a Life of Victory!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY MAY 7, 2017

Greetings to you all in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! May your hearts be blessed and enriched today as you worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

Two months after publicly expressing his outrage over thousands of donations being made in his name to abortion giant Planned Parenthood, Greg Locke, the senior pastor of Global Vision Bible Church in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, is vigorously fighting back. In a move which he called a symbolic show of force, he flew to Washington last Thursday to return thousands of “thank you” letters to Planned Parenthood’s Washington, D.C. office. These letters were mailed to him after donations were supposedly made in his name to the organization by abortion activists.

Of course, these persons knowing him to be a strong opponent of abortion, wanted to cast a reflection on him. Even though he has appealed to the organization to remove his name from their mailing list, they have blatantly ignored him. In addition to the “thank you” letters, Locke revealed that he had also received sex toys, tampons, contraceptives and numerous post cards with bitter criticism, threats and hate talk.

While Pastor Locke was prevented by security personnel from entering the Planned Parenthood facility to return the letters, the organization provided him with two recycling bins so he could drop them off at the front of the building. He said that even though what he is doing may seem strange, he is making his point to stand with God because God stands on the side of life. He wants everyone to know that he has absolutely nothing to do with Planned Parenthood and does not want his name associated with that brutally wicked organization. He said that even though he has taken this stand, activists have pledged to continue giving in his name. He is still insisting that Planned Parenthood remove his name from their mailing list.

Let us remember this man of God in our prayers this week. Also let us pray for these individuals insisting on making these donations in his name, that their eyes may be opened to the danger they can incur on themselves. The Word of God says, “Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm.” (1Chro. 16:22) Amen!

OVERCOMER: Living a Life of Victory!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY APRIL 30, 2017

Greetings to you all in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! May your hearts be blessed as you worship with us today.

The Word of God is Spreading! Hallelujah! “The National Bible Bee Game Show” competition was launched live on Facebook a few weeks ago. This is a first of its kind. The competition is being broadcast on the social-media network weekly on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. The broadcast tests students’ Bible knowledge and their ability to memorize the scriptures. The show is a combination of education and entertainment; it covers three classes of competition and offers hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes. The shows are hosted by actor Kirk Cameron, Zwayne, Hanna Leary and the Benham brothers, David and Jason.

In an interview with WND after the show’s launch, Jason Benham said there was “vitriol from hell” aimed at the kids who were participating. Criticism was cruel and bitter. The kids were made fun of, poked at and called names. But from the Christian community, there was “overwhelmingly great support.”

The show is the culmination of the National Bible Bee program, which already has involved thousands of children memorizing sometimes nearly 1,000 verses from the Bible. The verses teach the ability to understand and know wisdom. David pointed out that early American education centered around the Bible. The “New England Primer” used Bible references to teach the alphabet: “A is for Adam.”

“The goal really is to encourage young people in their efforts to understand God’s Word and to inspire them to internalize it, and then to impact their lives,” David added. The broadcast is on Facebook Live, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time Tuesdays.

Let us pray for the success of this Godly show. Let us also pray for the children who will be involved, that God would give them boldness. Pray that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. Amen!

Biblical Directions for Life and Work “Dealing with Difficult People”
By Dr. Gloria “Jo” Floyd

To deal biblically and positively with difficult people, conflict and situations try these approaches:

Communication: Communicate assertively not aggressively nor passive aggressively. Watch your words, behaviors and gestures. (Matthew 5:9; Ecclesiastes 7:19)

Team Player: Be a team player at home and at work. Try to look for ways to make things better for everyone involved. Don’t think selfishly. (Psalm 133:1)

Assessment: Ascertain what the real difficulty is. Are you the culprit? Is your ego in the way? Are you EGO-Easing God Out?

Judge Not: Try not to be judgmental. We all have faults. All are faults. (Matthew 7:1-2)

Adversity at Home: Realize that dealing with people often brings adversity and conflict. (Matthew 10:34-39) At home or work we are supposed to fix our eyes on God and love him more than anything in our world.

Persecutions: Realize that we were not promised everything with ease. We have been warned that we should beware of men. We should be reminded as in the midst of wolves; be ye therefore wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

Disputes: We may have disputes with other but we should handle them well. Even when we are treated badly/wrongly by others we should turn the other cheek. (Matthew 5:39-45)

Love Everybody In Spite of Their Behavior: Try to remember that most people do not get up each day looking to make us miserable even though it may seem that way. People do hurt us. People are sometimes hard to deal with and hard to love. We can be the same way. (Matthew 39)

Don’t Get Even – Get God! Get Peace!: Let God work out all your problems with people. You don’t need to worry about anything. God is in control. Nothing will happen to you except what he allows. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Don’t Let Anything Mar Your Godly Walk in Life: When you have a problem dealing with another don’t go off the limb. Pray. Fast. Be Still. Be Quiet. Rest in your assurance that God will take care. (Matthew 7:7)

The Golden Rule Still Applies: Sometime we want to be treated great but we fail to step into the shoes of the other person. If you want real blessings in dealing with others listen to the person, ask for clarification, don’t be defensive, ask and remember as in the golden rule. (Matthew 7:12)

Let Your Word Be Real: Don’t lie, lose integrity, steal or cheat if you want to have good relationships with people. Forgive those who wrong you. Smile don’t frown. Say please, yes and thank you. You must be a correct user of words, not a gossiper or back stabber… and Love a lot and you will get along well with other people. (Matthew 5:3-12)

OVERCOMER: Living a Life of Victory!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY APRIL 23, 2017

It is a great joy to welcome you to the house of the Lord another Sunday. May God bless us richly as we worship Him together.

Chaplains will continue to be allowed to pray at the New Hampshire Air National Guard base although an atheist organization tried to put an end to the prayers.

OneNewsNow.com reports that the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) sent a letter to the New Hampshire Air National Guard demanding that they disallow prayer during military ceremonies.

The Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty (CARL) invoked the help of the Christian legal group, First Liberty Institute, which sent a letter to the Air Force base, explaining that it is perfectly legal to allow prayer during military ceremonies and that they don’t need to give in to the scare tactics of the FFRF.

CARL Executive Director Ron Crews praised the Air Base’s decision to continue to allow chaplains to pray:
“The commanders there at the unit in the air national guard have made the decision to ignore the threat from the from the Freedom from Religion Foundation and prayers will continue in the Air National Guard as they should,” Crews announced. “And we’re very grateful for this outcome.”

Crews also praised First Liberty Institute for their work: “That’s why we’re grateful to organizations like First Liberty – who will step forward and give the legal precedent for organizations and institutions like the Air National Guard – to say there is no reason for you to give in to this threat of a suit because you’re doing the right thing. Keep doing it!”

Let us continue to pray for our men and women in the armed forces of America that they continue to have the freedom to pray always in every situation. As Christians, we know the importance of prayer it can win battles and certainly wars. We gave God praise!
