BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY FEBRUARY 5, 2017

Once again we welcome you to another worship experience here at FEA. May God’s name be magnified in us today.

Approximately 900 Christian churches have been destroyed at the hands of the Boko Haram in northern Nigeria. This was done as part of the radical Islamic group’s campaign to drive out all Christians from the north. The Boko Haram is a group in Nigeria that promotes a version of Islam which makes it “haram’, or forbidden for Muslims to participate in any political or social activity that is associated with Western society. This includes voting in elections, wearing shirts and trousers or receiving a secular education.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) is fully convinced that the carnage being carried out against Christians is a clear indication of a continued full force Boko Haram’s war on followers of Christ, which started in 2009. This position was strengthened after the National Executive Council held a meeting with Evangelist Musa Misal, urging the rebuilding of over 900 demolished churches.

CAN also called on the government to step up its protection of civilians. This was previously echoed by persecution watchdog groups like International Christian Concern (ICC). They pointed out that Christians continue to be the primary and constant target of Islamic radicals without any hope of ever being protected or of the authorities bringing the culprits to justice.

Just last week BBC News reported that the jihadists have now resorted to the use of babies as a part of their suicide attacks. Two women disguised as mothers and holding infants carried out a bombing on Jan. 13 in the town of Madagali in Adamawa State. Nigeria’s population of 180 million is equally divided between Muslims and Christians, according to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. It is comprises more than 250 ethnic groups. The vast majority of the population of northern Nigeria identifies as Muslim.

In light of these facts, we are urging you to pray for our brothers and sisters in Nigeria. Quite often we issue calls for prayer as we share this kind of information with you. we hope that you take these matters seriously and really pray. May God use you mightily as you pray.

Matthew- Last Part

What’s the big idea?
Matthew wrote his account of Jesus’s ministry to show that Jesus was and is indeed the King, Israel’s long-awaited Messiah. He reflected this concern in his opening line, “The record of the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham” (Matthew 1:1). From there, Matthew consistently took his readers back to the Old Testament, providing Old Testament testimony regarding the birth of Jesus, Bethlehem as the location of Jesus’s birth, the flight to Egypt, Herod’s slaughter of the infants, and the beginning of Jesus’s ministry. In a world where many in the Jewish community had claimed the role of Messiah for themselves, Matthew’s commitment to grounding the life of Jesus in the Old Testament raised Jesus above the multitude of these false messiahs. The apostle painted a portrait of our Lord that highlights His uniqueness among all others to ever walk this earth.

How do I apply this?
After enduring four hundred years of prophetic silence, God’s people must have wondered whether or not He had deserted them. After centuries of regular communication from God, the people found themselves without a genuine prophet or spokesman for God. However, the ministries of John and Jesus reminded God’s people that He had not forgotten them. God’s silence during that period was merely a precursor to pulling the linchpin of His redemptive plan. God hadn’t forgotten—He remembered His people. Matthew made that clear.
It was true then, and it is certainly true today. Do you ever feel as though God has deserted you or that He sits in silence in the face of your requests? As we read through the pages of Matthew, not only do we see Jesus Christ revealed as Israel’s King and Messiah, but His coming to earth as God in the flesh reminds us of His deep love for us. Now resurrected and ascended, the Lord Jesus will always be with us, even to the end of time (Matthew 28:20). Christ’s commission to His followers is still His mandate to us today: “Make disciples of all the nations” (Matthew 28:19). Christ’s work of building His church is the work He does through each of us.

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY JANUARY 29, 2017

Once again we welcome you to FEA worship service. Let us worship the lord in the beauty of holiness. May His name be glorified today.

One Sunday morning in August last year, three policemen went to the home of Don Ossewaarde, a missionary from Illinois, as he was conducting his weekly Bible study in Russia. He was taken to the police station and charged him with conducting missionary activities in violation of a new law that took effect in July last year. He was subsequently taken to court, found guilty and sentenced to pay a fine of 40,000 rubles, which is over $600 US. Ossewaarde had now become about the 31st person to have been prosecuted under the new law.

However, the good news is that this law might now be getting a second look in the interest of the people of Russia. Ossewaarde appealed his case three times, and has now worked his way up to Russia’s Supreme Court, which is expected to issue a ruling within the next few weeks. He also appealed to the Constitutional Court, and if the judges accept the case, the consequences could be great. Ossewaarde’s case now becomes the first under the anti-missionary amendment to reach this level in the Russian courts, and the first to issue a challenge to the legislation itself.

According to the Religious Liberty Bulletin, President Putin agreed a few months ago that the unpopular law may need to be “adjusted to not put people in a difficult position.” That difficult position includes being charged for not using your church’s full name on your phone bills, allowing children on a playground within hearing distance of sermons, and distributing New Testaments on a train. These are all accusations that have been made against Protestants under the new law.

While we are still enjoying our freedom to worship God here in the U.S., let us remember to pray for those who do not have this privilege. Pray earnestly for victory in this court proceeding, that this yoke might be broken from the shoulders of our brothers and sisters in Russia. Amen!

Matthew- Part 3
Why is Matthew so important?
The apostle Matthew, a Jew himself, offered a decidedly Jewish perspective on the ministry of Jesus. He included more than fifty direct citations—and even more indirect allusions—from the Old Testament. This exceeds any of the other gospels and indicates that Matthew had the Jewish population in mind when he sat down to write. Matthew’s extensive connections between Jesus and the Old Testament provide ample prophetic evidence for Jesus’s ministry but also give contemporary readers a glimpse into how first-century readers approached the Old Testament with a Christ-centered mind-set.
In addition, Matthew’s gospel answers the question on the mind of every Jewish reader: “If Jesus is the King of the Jews, then where is God’s promised kingdom?” Matthew reveals that Jesus did offer the kingdom to Israel, but the offer was rejected (Matthew 4:17; 16:13–28; 21:42–43). God’s primary work in the world is now accomplished through the building of Christ’s church, after which Jesus will come again to earth and establish His kingdom—ruling the world from Israel.

OVERCOMER: Living a Life of Victory!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY JANUARY 22, 2017

Once again we welcome you as we gather to worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. May His name be glorified in us.

On Friday, the 45th president of the United States, Donald John Trump was sworn into office. He stood in front of the U.S. Capitol and placed his hand on two Bibles: one that was used for Abraham Lincoln’s inauguration in 1861 and the other, a gift from Trump’s mother when he graduated at age 9 from Sunday school at the First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica, New York. President Trump laid his hand on the Bibles and pledged to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

The new president did not hide his affiliation with evangelical Christians at the ceremony. He was surrounded by religious leaders such as Pastor Paula White, Pastor Sammy Rodriguez, African-American Bishop, Wayne T. Jackson of Detroit and Evangelist Franklyn Graham. Rabbi Maurice Hier and Catholic Cardinal Timothy Dolan also officiated in the ceremony.

We have an obligation to pray for our president no matter what our political persuasion might be. In 1 Timothy 2:1-2, we are commanded to pray “for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty.” Praying for our leaders is not optional. It is our God-given responsibility, and it is in our interest to do so for the peace and unity of the nation that is so desperately needed now in our nation.

J. Lee Grady, former editor of Charisma, suggests eight ways that we can pray for our new president: (1) Pray for his protection. (2)Pray that the president will govern with God’s wisdom. (3)Pray that God will set a guard over the president’s mouth. (4)Pray for wise and righteous advisers to surround him. (5)Ask for the spirit of reconciliation. (6)Bind all evil forces assigned to manipulate our president. (7)Pray that President Trump’s door will always be opened to the church. (8)Pray that our nation will enjoy God’s peace and blessing during the Trump administration.

If we follow these guidelines and pray, I have no doubt that God will come to our aid and heal our land. God bless America!

Matthew- Part 2
Where are we?
Matthew is the most Jewish-centric of the four gospels. The apostle regularly invoked the writings of the Old Testament prophets in an effort to illustrate Jesus’s identity as Israel’s long-awaited Messiah.
However, the gospel of Matthew has been notoriously difficult to date. Several factors speak to a date ranging from AD 60–65. First of all, the book makes no mention of the destruction of the temple, an event which occurred in AD 70. Such a cataclysmic event likely would have received some comment, particularly in a book so clearly influenced by Judaism. The largely Jewish character of the book also suggests it was written at a time when much of the evangelism by Christians was directed more exclusively at Jews, something that became less and less common as the decades passed. Finally, many scholars believe Mark to have been the first gospel composed, making it most probable that Matthew was written soon after.

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY JANUARY 15, 2017

“I was glad when they said unto me; Let us go into the house of the Lord” (Ps. 122:1). We are sure that you are glad to be here with us today. Welcome!

Recently published researched findings about the world’s favorite Bible verse have proved to be very interesting indeed. They indicate that the world’s favorite Bible verse for the past year – 2016 was Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (NIV). The information was gathered from the You Version Bible App. This particular verse, Rom. 8:28, was highlighted, shared, and bookmarked more than any other verse by YouVersion’s users. Of course You Version has now installed its Bible App on more than 250 million unique devices.

In every category that was measured, the global You Version community has been more engaged with the Bible throughout 2016 than in any other year previously. The organization announced that 2016 was its most successful year ever.
Notable nations where usage of the app showed significant increase include Argentina, Cameroon, Mozambique, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Nepal, which YouVersion called one of the most rapid increases in Bible reading in a heart language they had ever seen.

Even though Jeremiah 29:11, (“For I know the plans I have for you…”) (NIV), was the top verse in 29 of the 88 countries, Romans 8: 28 still had more highlights, shares and bookmarks than any other verse. Its total was over 550,000. The countries involved included the United States, Singapore, Ghana, Germany, Mexico, Australia and others.

We give God praise and thanks for the interest that is being generated in the word of God across the globe. We also give Him praise and thanks for the fact that people are becoming aware of the significance of that God-connection in their lives. The top verse for the year, Romans 8:28, is indicative of this fact. Let us pray that this good trend will continue.

Matthew- Part 1

Who wrote the book?
While Matthew did not sign his own name to “his” gospel, the early church uniformly attested to the apostle’s authorship of the book. As early as AD 140, a Christian named Papias wrote that Matthew had compiled the sayings of the Lord in Hebrew (presumably before Matthew translated them into Greek for a larger audience).

Matthew’s name appears in all the biblical lists of the twelve apostles, though Mark and Luke refer to him as Levi. His history as a tax collector distinguished him from the other apostles, and immediately after his call to follow Jesus—an event he recorded in Matthew 9:9—Matthew hosted a feast for Jesus in his home with an invitation list made up of Matthew’s sinful friends. Apparently Matthew did not think it odd that Jesus and he would associate with the sinful and downtrodden of society.

OVERCOMER: Living a Life of Victory!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY JANUARY 8, 2017

We praise God for another day that we can come together and worship. May He be pleased with our worship. Welcome!

On Saturday December 23, 2016, the United Nations Security Council voted 14 to 0 condemning Israeli settlements in the West Bank and Jerusalem as illegal. This resolution requires a return by Israel to their borders prior to 1967 and seeks to take Judea and Samaria completely out of Israel’s control, thus leaving it indefensible. The resolution was spearheaded by Egypt. All but one of the Security Council’s 15 members, including Russia, China and the United States’ closest European allies approved it; but the United States abstained and refused to enact its veto power in the interest of Israel.

Reaction to this outcome was swift and predictable. Members of Congress charged that the president had betrayed one of the United States’ closest allies. The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the measure “absurd,” and his government said the United States had secretly “colluded” with the Palestinians on the resolution. President elect, Donald Trump, who had publicly urged a veto, encouraged Israel to “stay strong” until his inauguration.

But the last thing that we want as a nation is to find ourselves on the wrong side of a matter in which God has already ruled. It could spell endless trouble for us. In Genesis 12:1, God called Abraham and told him that He was taking him to a land that He would show him. In Genesis 13:14-17, God outlined to Abraham the geographical location of the land He was giving to him and his descendants. In Genesis 15:18-21, God gave Abraham further details about the geographical location of the land which includes the West Bank, Gaza, and the Golan Heights. In chapter 13:13 God specifically stated that He was giving the land to Israel “forever.” And in Joel 3:3, God makes it abundantly clear that He would judge the nations that “divide” the land which He has given to Israel.

We need to engage in urgent and earnest prayer for our nation at this time that a way be found for us to assist Israel before it is too late. Also we need to be in prayer for Israel that God would defend them against all their enemies and give them peace. “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; they shall prosper that love thee.” (Ps. 122:6).

8 Reasons to Celebrate -by Joyce Meyer

We have so much to be thankful for in life. I’m reminded of it every time I wake up in the morning—because God truly has worked out every negative thing that has happened to me for my good. Not only that, He’s made it possible for us to work together to accomplish some incredible things!

Back in January, I set a goal for myself to be thankful every day of the year. I’ve tried my best to do that, and in the process, I’ve realized that complaining doesn’t change a thing! But choosing a thankful attitude can help me enjoy a perfectly lousy day.

I am so encouraged by this scripture and I hope it encourages you. John 10:10 says, The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).

You see, through every storm of life, we can be strengthened by God’s love, refreshed by His Word, and fully energized to press on in our journey of faith. Instead of focusing on the negative, we can choose to remember the good things He’s doing and celebrate!

Through the years, I have made many lists to remind myself of the reasons I have to be thankful to God. And to this day, I can look at them and be encouraged.

A few of my favorites include:
1.God’s provision
2.The love of my family and friends
3.Our partners
4.The privilege of teaching God’s Word
5.The gifts of the Holy Spirit
6.Being able to help people
7.Clean water and good food
8.All the beautiful things that God has created

Each time I look at these things, I am blessed all over again! I encourage you to join me in this year of thanks. Write lists of thanksgiving for the good things God has done. Not only will it cheer you up in hard times, it will strengthen your relationship with God. He is so worthy of our gratitude! Rejoice in the Lord and be glad. —Psalm 32:11 (NIV)

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY JANUARY 1, 2017

“And God said, let there be lights in the firmament of heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years:”( Gen 1:14). This is the year which the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. Welcome!

Kentucky Governor, Matt Bevin stated on Monday, December 26, 2016 that the year 2017 should be another “Year of the Bible.” He justified his proclamation by quoting President Abraham Lincoln’s statement that “The Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man.” Of course, we would like to add after Jesus our Savior. He also quoted President Ronald Regan who said that “Of the many influences that have shaped the United States into a distinctive nation and people, none may be said to be more fundamental and enduring than the Bible.”

One of the reasons Governor Bevin gave for making the proclamation is to support The Second Annual Kentucky 120 United Bible Reading Marathon. This is scheduled to take place throughout the entire state from today Sunday, January 1, to Wednesday, January 4. The Marathon will involve different groups reading through the Bible for that period. Last January, The First Annual Bible Reading Marathon had approximately 30,000 volunteers.

Pastor Mark Harrell of Victory Christian Fellowship in Somerset, the group behind the Bible Reading Marathon, said that it was the governor himself who encouraged him to repeat the marathon in 2017. He said that it was not his intention to do so, but because the governor and his family participated last year, and desired the activity again, he was happy to repeat it. Over seventy counties are expected to participate.

This is a very encouraging gesture on the part of Governor Matt Bevin to proclaim 2017 as the year of the BIBLE. This is being done against the backdrop of godless legislation and actions in our nation. As I frequently say, all is not lost. These are clear signs indicative of the fact that God is still at work in the hearts of some of our leaders. Let us pray that it would spread to the hearts of others also. Amen!

HAVE A BLESSED AND VICTORIOUS NEW YEAR 2017!

Make 2017 a year of true change—base your resolutions on the Word of God.

Most resolutions fail by February. Just about everyone is going to make some promise to themselves to do something in the New Year: lose a few pounds, break a bad habit, cut down on social media…

There’s nothing wrong with setting goals. But this year, resolve to do something with a higher purpose. Something that has eternal weight and significance. Here are the LifeWay Groups Ministry’s recommendations.

This year, I resolve to…

…make real, noticeable progress in my walk with Christ.
Find out what it really means to be poor in spirit, to be meek, and to mourn, and discover how those qualities will help you live a life in which God’s blessings are abundantly clear and present.

…find peace in God’s sovereign will.
Find hope in understanding that the sudden or seemingly endless detours in life are God’s way of moving you from where you are to where He wants you to be.

…overcome strongholds that enslave me.
Learn to renew your mind in Christ as you identify and overcome the mental, familial, and even self-created strongholds that enslave you.

…become who I already am in Christ.
Challenge the status quo of our culture (and even some churches) by encouraging you to live more purely through the essential convictions of Christianity.

…know Jesus more intimately.
Explore the Gospel of John and move toward a more intimate relationship with Jesus through His miracles, what He said about Himself, and what others said about Him. -By Group Ministry

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY DECEMBER 25, 2016

O come let us adore Him! We welcome you who have come to adore Him with us today. May God bless you richly.

Many Christians in India are reportedly now very afraid to celebrate Christmas. This resulted after Hindu radicals attacked believers on at least two separate occasions in recent weeks. International Christian Concern (ICC) and other persecution watchdog groups said that one of the attacks occurred last week in Madhya Pradesh State, where a mob of 25 radicals broke into a private house where 30 Christians were singing Christmas carols. The Christians were dragged into the streets and beaten. The radicals reportedly accused them of carrying out forced conversions in the village. Four pastors were also accused of such conversions and apprehended by authorities.

One local pastor told ICC, “We have carol rounds during the day because of fear of attacks from the radical Hindu groups. The Christians of this area are scared and cannot celebrate Christianity freely.” On December 11, another 20 Christians were beaten with wooden clubs by 30 suspected radicals. One priest explained how the group of Christians, which included women and children, had been singing Christmas carols and that it had provoked the anger of radicals. The priest described the attack which followed as the Christians walked down the street, He said, “While the children ran helter skelter, the women and men were beaten on their hands, legs and backs. They accused them of converting people and shouted in their native language, ‘Victory to Mother India.’ ”

William Stark, ICC’s regional manager, said that these “vicious attacks on Christians are totally unacceptable. Christians should not fear attacks while celebrating Christmas. It is their right to freely celebrate the religious holidays they hold dear according to India’s constitutional protections.” He is calling for more to be done in India’s rural areas to ensure that the religious freedom rights of all citizens are respected.

We give God thanks for the freedom which we still have in our nation to celebrate Christ and Christmas. The devil is still mad over the fact that Jesus came to the earth to give life to man. Jesus told his disciples “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul, but rather be afraid of Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”(Matt. 10:28). Let us pray for our brethren in India that God would strengthen them in this difficult hour.

His Presence is Our Present
Special thanks to all the ministries who participated, those who contributed and labored to make last Sunday’s Christmas Program a success.
“The magic of Christmas is not in the presents. But in His Presence.”

Why We Celebrate
Why do we celebrate
Jesus’ birth at Christmas,
though we don’t know
when He was born?

It was necessary and inevitable
that we select a date
to celebrate an eternal miracle–
the coming to earth
of God in human form…Jesus,
Who changed the entire world
with His message of love,
forgiveness, humility and peace.

Christmas is an obligatory
and indispensable holiday
marking the transformation
from guiltless selfishness

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY DECEMBER 18, 2016

David said, “I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord.” I am sure you said the same, so welcome!

Let us give God thanks that His Word is spreading rapidly around the world! The popular YouVersion Bible App for phones has now reached a new milestone of over a quarter of a billion downloads. The app was created in 2008 as one of the 200 apps available in the iPhone app store. The YouVersion Bible App reached the 250 million download mark on Monday, December 5, 2016.

In comments emailed to The Christian Post, Bobby Gruenewald, Pastor of Life Church and founder of YouVersion, expressed his surprise at the response to the app. He said that he “never could have imagined how many people would come to rely on it every day, all around the world. God has done far more through the Bible App than we could have asked or imagined …”

The creation of YouVersion Bible app brought together translators, publishers, Bible societies, churches, authors, and hundreds of volunteers as a massive coalition with a common purpose to help people fully engage in the Word of God. It was originally launched in 2007 as part of the Life Church website. The app includes over 1,200 versions of the Bible in about 900 different languages. Within the space of five years, the YouVersion app was downloaded 100 million times. Last December, the app hit the 200 million download milestone.

According to Gruenewald, there have been some recent additions to the app. It now has an iMessage extension and a Bible keyboard which allows users to search and share Bible verses and verse images from a wide variety of apps. It also now has the ability to compare various Bible versions of the same verse at a glance along with a Netflix-like display format for Bible plans. This makes it easier to search and discover. Gruenewald is convinced that all of these additions have contributed to an increase in engagement, including the verses shared, chapters read, and Bible Plans that have been completed.

We give God praise and thanks that despite everything the Word of God is being spread across the globe. Of course, technology is assisting greatly to this end and for this we are most grateful. The most important thing in our lives is the Word of God. The prayer of our hearts is that this Bible app will continue to serve its purpose.

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY DECEMBER 11, 2016

We are glad that you have chosen to worship with us today. May God minister unto you in a very special way.

A district court judge in Ohio has upheld the constitutionality of having the national motto “In God We Trust” on United States currency. This recent ruling was made on Wednesday November 30, after the rejection of the most recent legal attempt by atheist activist Michael Newdow to strike the phrase from the United States currency. Judge Benita Y. Pearson of the Northern District of Ohio rejected an effort by a group of plaintiffs to strike the motto from American money under the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

In his ruling, Judge Pearson reasoned that the Religious Freedom Restoration Act was not applicable, because the plaintiffs could not demonstrate that the use of the motto on currency substantially burdens their religious exercise. He said that credit cards and checks allow people to conduct most of their purchases with currency that does not carry the motto. And for cash-only transactions, such as a garage sale or a coin-operated laundromat, the use of the motto on currency does not hinder anyone from exercising his religious freedom.

Judge Pearson also wrote in his decision that the use of money with “In God We Trust” on it does not equal being forced to advance a religious message against one’s will. He further stated that no reasonable person would think that money is used to spread its religious message, since a person does not own the bills and coins printed by the United States Treasury, and the government does not require citizens to display money.

Kelly Shackelford, president and CEO of First Liberty Institute, whose organization filed an amicus brief in behalf of the motto, released a statement supporting Judge Pearson’s ruling. He wrote, “We’re grateful that the court upheld the federal government’s ability to display our National Motto on our currency.’In God We Trust’ is deeply embedded in our nation’s history and is a symbol of patriotism.”

We give God praise and thanks for another victory over the devil in our nation. All is surely not lost. Satan wants to strip our nation of every semblance of God, but we declare that in Jesus name it will not happen. Let us continue to pray for our nation that God’s kingdom will come and His will be done in it. Amen!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY DECEMBER 04, 2016

We are glad that you have chosen to worship with us today. May God minister unto you in a very special way.

Pakistan’s television regulatory body has banned all 11 Christian TV channels airing in the country. In addition they have arrested at least six cable operators for defying the order. The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, or PEMRA, does not grant landing rights for religious content, allowing the airing of Christian messages only for Christmas and Easter. However, the Christian channels had been operating for more than two and a half decades, just as numerous Islamic channels still do. PEMRA has now formally deemed the Christian channels illegal, and is cracking down on cable operators who are still airing the channels.

All the Christian channels, with the exception of two, operated from outside Pakistan. The oldest Christian satellite broadcasters, Isaac TV, and Catholic TV, have also been shut down. Father Morris Jalal, founder and executive director of Catholic TV, was quoted as saying, “What is the future of church media in Pakistan? It is a very difficult time for us. We were just trying to reach our own community who are generally ignored by other TV channels.” Jalal also spoke to the U.K.’s Daily Express saying, “As citizens, Christians have the right to practice their religion, but if they block you, it means not all citizens are equal. When someone bans the expression of faith, which is a fundamental right, there is persecution.”

This government’s move comes as Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of five who was sentenced to death in 2010 on accusations of blasphemy, is awaiting her appeal. Bibi was sentenced to death in 2010 on allegations of blasphemy after two co-workers accused her of insulting the Muslim prophet Muhammad. It all started one day in June 2009, when she was picking berries with a group of Muslim women in the town of Sheikhupura in the Punjab province. The women got upset that she drank from the same water bowl as they. An argument ensued, and the women went to the police and accused her of saying something along the lines of, “My Christ died for me, what did Muhammad do for you?” She was promptly arrested.

Let us earnestly intercede for the Christians in Pakistan and also for Asia Bibi that God would intervene in their behalf. The Bible says “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” (Isa. 59:19)
