BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY NOVEMBER 27, 2016

We are glad that you have chosen to worship with us today. May God minister unto you in a very special way.

Last Saturday November 19, Organization One Body, hosted the third-annual night of prayer for the persecuted church. The event was hosted at Christ Our Shepherd Church in North Carolina. Giving her testimony at this year’s event was, Mariam Ibraheem, the Sudanese Christian mother who made headlines in 2014 when she was sentenced to death because she was married to a Christian man. Ibraheem who grew up with her Christian mother in Muslim dominated Sudan, was imprisoned along with her baby son. She was even forced to give birth to her baby daughter while chained to the prison floor. She was eventually released by the order of an appeals court after spending months in detention. Now living Virginia, Ibraheem told the audience that hers was the story of many Christians in Islamic countries. They usually end up being sentenced to death, beheaded, or receiving 100 lashes.

Getaneh Getaneh, an evangelist from Ethiopia who was arrested at least five times and tortured for sharing the gospel there, told the audience of the time when he was arrested and tortured after he baptized some converts. He said that they killed the three who converted to Christianity, after they refused to return to Islam. He said, “They killed them and my turn came, and they took me to an empty room, and hang me upside down, and started to put boiling oil on my feet. It was painful. Then, I asked God to take me home. I can’t resist the pain.” But God said to him, “Son, it is not time for you to come home. Tell these people who are persecuting you how God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.”

Getaneh said that he did as God asked him. The men soon took him down from hanging, after which, two of his captors gave their lives to Jesus Christ.

Pastor Freddy Thomas, head of an Indian church planting initiative, told the audience that although persecution in India is on the rise, more and more people are coming to Jesus Christ. He said, “I remember when there was an outbreak of persecution in Kandhamal. I received a phone call that believers had gone to the pastor’s house in the area with only their clothes on their body. Their huts, their fields and their harvests had been burned. … I was afraid that these guys would deny Jesus and leave the faith. But not even one person went back to Hinduism.”

So we thank God that despite persecution, the Church is advancing. Let us remember to pray regularly for our persecuted brethren.

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY NOVEMBER 20, 2016

We gladly welcome you to our worship experience here at FEA. May God minister unto you in a very special way today.

We have all seen video clips of Muslim refugees fleeing from war-torn Syria and flooding into an unprepared and overwhelmed Europe. We’ve heard accounts of some of these refugees committing ugly crimes and others demanding that the post-Christian societies that welcome them conform to the harsh demands of Islamic law. We’ve even read the stories about Islamist terror groups such as ISIS infiltrating the refugee populations in order to wreak further havoc on the West.

However, many do not know the rest of the story. It a story of God building His kingdom in the midst of chaos, doubt and uncertainty. It’s a story of Muslims meeting Jesus. Take for example, the story of Javad, a Muslim from Iran. He didn’t know any Christians and didn’t own a Bible, though he had heard some Christian satellite radio. Then he migrated to Athens, and a roommate asked him to come to an Iranian church. Javad had never heard of such a thing; so being curious, he went. There, in a small, unremarkable rented room, he heard the gospel and gladly received Christ.

Because many refugees remain on the move, an informal network of new churches for Muslim converts has begun spreading in Britain, the Netherlands, Germany and elsewhere. One church in Berlin has counted 1,200 Muslims converted in just three years. At a Persian church in Hamburg, meanwhile, more than 600 Pakistanis and Afghans lined up to be baptized during a service. According to a report in The Daily Beast, thousands, maybe tens of thousands of Muslims have become followers of Jesus across Northern Europe.

One young woman from Iran told the German magazine, Stern, “I’ve been looking all my life for peace and happiness, but in Islam, I have not found them.” Another convert said the love of Christ made all the difference. “In Islam, we always lived in fear,” he said. “Fear of God, fear of sin, fear of punishment. But Christ is a God of love.”

So while the wars and upheavals in the Middle East and Asia have sparked a crisis of epic proportions, God continues His quiet work of saving sinners and transforming lives. As Joseph in the Old Testament said, what man meant for evil, God meant for good. Let us give God thanks this Thanksgiving for what He is doing in lives of refugees. Amen!

Have a happy Thanksgiving Day!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY NOVEMBER 13, 2016

We thank God for another day of corporate worship. How good and pleasant it is for us to dwell together in unity.

On Tuesday, November 8, a new United States president was elected in the person of Donald Trump. This has sent shock waves not only across the nation but also around the world. While millions are rejoicing, there are also millions who feel fear, worry, anxiety, disbelief and a sense of hopelessness. Protesters have taken to the streets and are becoming violent in some places. But I want to set your hearts at ease and assure you that God is at work in our nation. Amos 3:7 tells us, “Surely the Lord will do nothing except He reveals it to His servants the prophets.” I have witnesses to what I am about to share as I had shared with them along the way what God had revealed. These include my wife, Elder Julian Jackson, Brother Valdemar Roebuck and a few others.

If you recall, in my last message before we left for vacation I had told you to pray for the upcoming elections. I also informed you that God had showed me what He was going to do. I told you this because on May 3, God spoke to me in no uncertain terms and told me that He was raising up Donald Trump to be president of this nation. To confirm this, He gave me Isa. 45:1-6 and Isa. 45:13, (please read). He then instructed me to pray and intercede for this man so that His will might come to fruition in our nation. After several months of intercession, when I saw the way things were going I told the Lord that there was too much working against Mr. Trump and that I did not see how this could happen. God immediately spoke to me and told me to keep on praying and not to get discouraged because my prayers would yield positive results. To confirm this He gave me Jer. 31:16, (Please read).

The Lord spoke to me again on August 18, and told me that He had chosen Mr. Trump to be the president of our nation. He then confirmed it with Isa. 44:28, (Please read) and again instructed me to continue praying and interceding. On October 21, as my wife and I were on our flight to Barbados, God spoke to me again and told me that He was raising up Mr. Trump. He spoke to me clearly from Daniel 17:4 (please read).Trump, as we all know, is a typical Washington outsider, a man devoid of experience in governmental affairs and one deemed most unqualified for the task; but God does what he pleases in heaven and in the earth.
On Sunday night, as I was preparing to go to bed, the Lord led me to pray and intercede for Mr. Trump that His will might be accomplished. I remained on my knees praying and interceding until after 2:00 a.m. Monday morning. It was at this point that God began to minister to me and assure me that my task was now over.

On Tuesday, November 8, God accomplished His purpose in this nation regarding the one whom He has chosen to be president of the United States of America. Let us obey the exhortation in 1 Tim. 2:1 – 2 and pray for President-elect Donald Trump that all God desires to accomplish through him might be accomplished indeed. Let us not fear, but put our trust in the living God who has the world in His hands and knows what the future holds. He does all things well.

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY NOVEMBER 6, 2016

A very loving welcome is extended to the F.E.A. Family and visitors today. May God bless You.

Christians are the most persecuted religious minority group in Iran. Iranian believers, especially those who convert from Islam to Christianity, face even more scrutiny. Now one television channel operating from multiple secret locations is beaming messages of hope directly into the Islamic country and Iranian authorities don’t like it one bit. Mohabat TV carries out its mission of broadcasting Christianity into Iran. “We are seeing a huge, huge number of Iranians who are reaching out to our channel and our phone center just to find out more about Jesus,” Mike Ansari, who oversees the popular channel, said.

“Many of our viewers that are contacting us from Iran claim that Islam has not delivered to their expectations. So when they turn the channel on and see Mohabat TV they hear a new message of Jesus, of forgiveness of love of acceptance,” Ansari said. “Persians are really thirsty for the truth, they really want to know who is this God that we talk about, who is this Jesus, is He real or is He just a prophet?” Baghestani who manages the phone banks said that they take an average between 8,000 to 10,000 calls a month from Iranians.

But producing Christian programs for Iran is not without its challenges. “Our channel and our signals are getting jammed on a daily basis inside Iran. Phone calls are being monitored and people who try to contact us may get persecuted,” Ansari said.

The official religion of Iran is Islam. Christians are officially less than half of one percent of the population. The overwhelming majority are Muslim. Christians are routinely imprisoned and labeled as threats to national security. “Our goal is just to be out there and just tell them {Muslims} that there is another choice: that the prophet Jesus whom they know very well through Islam, He is more than a prophet — that believing in Him can bring a sense of hope and a sense of new beginnings,” he said.

Let us continue to pray that more people around the world hear and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Let us also ask God what we can do to be part of opening doors of opportunity to spread the gospel. How Excellent is His name in all the earth!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY OCTOBER 30, 2016

This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Welcome to the FEA worship experience.

A lay minister who is suing the Georgia Department of Public Health for religious discrimination has been ordered by the state’s attorney general to relinquish his sermons to the government, according to federal court documents. Dr. Walsh said he will not comply with the request. “No government has the right to require a pastor to turn over his sermons,” Walsh said. “I cannot and will not give up my sermons unless I am forced to do so.”

Walsh, a Seventh-day Adventist lay minister had been hired in May 2014 as a District Health Director with the Georgia Department of Public Health. A week later, a government official asked him to submit copies of his sermons for review. He complied and two days later he was fired. His attorneys said the government was curious about sermons Dr. Walsh delivered on health, marriage, sexuality, world religions, science and creationism. He also preached on what the Bible says regarding homosexuality. He has since filed a federal lawsuit charging state officials with engaging in religious discrimination. His Attorney Jeremy Dys said that “If the government is allowed to fire someone over what he said in his sermons, they can come after any of us for our beliefs on anything.” “It’s an incredible intrusion on the sanctity of the pulpit,” Dys said. “This is probably the most invasive reach into the pulpit by the state that I’ve ever seen.”
“Pastors and rabbis across the country – especially in the state of Georgia should be frightened that a state would demand all the sermon notes and transcripts of a pastor,” he said. “This is unprecedented.” It may be unprecedented, but is it illegal?

“I think it is wrong for a state to demand that a pastor turns over his sermons at any time,” Dys said. “It was wrong for the state to ask Dr. Walsh for his sermons as part of the job application and hiring process. It was wrong for them to turn around and fire him when they listened to those sermons. And it is wrong now for them to demand that he turn over all the sermons and sermon notes he ever produced going back to when he was 18 years old.”

Family Research Council president Tony Perkins condemned the state’s demand calling it “an alarming display of government intrusion into the sanctity of the church, pastor’s study and pulpit.” “This is something that I would have expected to see in a communist country, not America,” Perkins told me. “Government scrutiny of speech in the pulpit is unconstitutional, and unconscionable.”

Dr. Walsh also gained the support of Emir Caner, president of Truett-McConnell University, a Christian school based in Cleveland, Georgia. “A new era has come to our shores, a time where government finds it acceptable to suppress the freedom of religion even to the extent of requesting a minister’s sermons,” Caner said. “As an ordained minister, I know that this is not merely an assault on the messenger, but on the very message of our Sacred Scriptures.”

Let us continue to pray for our Country asking God to turn the hearts of the governments, educational institutions, the judicial system and the people of the United States back to honoring and fearing Almighty God. For the fear of God is the beginning of Wisdom.

God Is Our Refuge In Distress

God is our refuge in distress,
Our shield of hope through every care,
Our Shepherd watching us to bless,
And therefore will we not despair;

Although the mountains shake,
And hills their place forsake,
And billows o’er them break
Yet still will we not fear,
For Thou, O God, art ever near.

God is our hope and strength in woe;
Through earth He maketh wars to cease;
His power breaketh spear and bow;
His mercy sendeth endless peace.

Then though the earth remove,
And storms rage high above,
And seas tempestuous prove,
Yet still will we not fear,
The Lord of Hosts is ever near.

Christians across Uzbekistan are being imprisoned for owning Bibles. The predominately Muslim country has one of the harshest dictatorships in Central Asia. It is ranked number 15 on the Open Doors persecution watch list.

“The regime will do everything possible to stay in power – all forms of opposition and deviations from the norm will be ruthlessly attacked. Christianity is regarded as an alien and destabilizing factor,” reports Open Doors, an organization that seeks to end Christian persecution.

According to Christianity Today, a Christian named Stanislav Kim is currently under house arrest for having religious literature at home.

Government officials raid the homes of Christians to find books that have not been approved by the state-backed Muslim Board.

The crackdown on Bibles has made it difficult for many Christians to spread the gospel.

“Please pray for the Christians in Uzbekistan,” a source told Open Doors. “It’s getting more and more difficult to spread the gospel with literature.”
Let us continue to pray asking God to comfort all those who are tortured both in body and mind; to give them the grace to endure and to see their suffering as part of following in Christ’s footsteps. Those who are martyred are paying the ultimate price because of their love for Jesus.

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY OCTOBER 16, 2016

We thank God for another day of corporate worship. How good and pleasant it is for us to dwell together in unity.

In September, China released a draft of new religious restrictions. The State Administration for Religious Affairs (SARA) then opened up a one-month window for responses to the 26 new rules in its Regulations on Religious Affairs. The final day for public response was Friday, October 7. The drafted law opens with the assurance that all Chinese citizens are free to believe whatever they wish and to engage in religious activity, as long as it is within the confines of these laws. One Chinese religious policy expert summed up some of what the regulations include as follows:

•No religious activities that are not approved by SARA.
•No one may provide a venue for religious services that are not approved by SARA.
•No one may use their home for religious practices that are not approved by SARA (including home or family Bible studies).
•No publishing religious materials without approval from SARA.
•No foreign or domestic donations may be made to any religious organization that hasn’t been approved by SARA.
•No one may call himself a pastor without the approval of SARA.
•No international religious exchanges may happen without the approval of SARA.
•No one may study theology at school without the approval SARA.

The law also includes the prohibition of online religious services, running religious events in schools, and organizing people to leave the country to attend religious training or conferences. The law itself states that its purpose is precisely to protect legitimate religious activity, while ensuring that religion does not fall into the hands of ethnic separatists or become a threat to national unity.

But everyone with spiritual understanding knows that this is just a front to appease the masses. The real intention of this law is to stop the spread of the gospel in China. Let us pray for God’s intervention to reverse this evil plan of the devil and that the church in China will arise in power and glory to the honor of God’s name.

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY OCTOBER 9, 2016

We thank God for another day of corporate worship. How good and pleasant it is for us to dwell together in unity.

Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice, Roy Moore, was suspended from his office following his refusal to allow probate judges to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples. About two weeks ago, the Court of the Judiciary (COJ) ruled that Judge Moore will remain suspended without pay for the remainder of his current six-year term. Judge Moore’s term does not end officially until January 2019. However, because Alabama has an age limit of 70 years for judges, the judge will be denied the privilege of seeking reelection in 2018. Unless there is a reversal of the Supreme Court’s decision, Judge Moore’s judicial career is ended.

Founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, Mat Staver, who represented Moore in oral arguments before the court, called the decision “an unbelievable violation of the law.” He also said, “To suspend Chief Justice Moore for the rest of his term is the same as removal.”

Evangelist Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s purse and Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, is urging Christians to pray for the judge who is taking a stand for what is right. He wrote on his Face Book page, “I have met Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, and I appreciate that he is a man who will stand up for what is right.” Graham urged his 4.5 million followers to join him in praying for Judge Moore, and to share their encouragement with him.

The Christian post reported that it received approximately 13,000 shares and that nearly 9,500 people have written comments with encouraging words for the judge. Let us remember to pray for Judge Moore and his family in this trying time. The Bible says, “Blessed are they who are persecuted for righteousness sake for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Mt. 5:11) Amen!

Lord, Help My Pastor
by, Patricia Bankhead
Lord, help my Pastor, I pray
There are many obstacles in his way
Every burden help him to bear.
Dear Lord, keep him in Your tender care
Give him strength and the ability
To care for the church and his family.
Lord, there is so much he has to do
He can’t do alone, he surely needs You
So shelter him in Your loving arms.
Safe from all danger and unseen harm
Guard his mouth, his heart and mind
Remove every tittle of sin and pride
Keep him in the hour of temptation.
May he not be moved by Satan’s persuasion
Remove all fears, Lord, remove all doubt
By Your Spirit, Lord, be in his mouth
So that he will speak a word that is due
And bring Your dear people closer to You
In Jesus Name, Amen.

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY OCTOBER 2, 2016

We give God praise and thanks for the freedom we have to come together and worship. May we all be blessed today.

Let us pray for our brothers and sisters in North Korea. Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) reports that although North Korea is a member of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, freedom of religion is one right that is “largely non-existent” in that country. This is something that has occurred since the 1950s, and the current leader, Kim Jong-un, continues to violate citizens’ religious freedom. Religious beliefs are seen as a threat to the loyalty demanded by their supreme leader. As a result, anyone holding these beliefs is severely persecuted.

There are at least 123 religious institutions in North Korea, most of which are Buddhist or Cheondoist temples. Even though there are three Protestant churches, one Catholic cathedral and a Russian Orthodox Church in the capital of Pyongyang, those state-sponsored churches are only there for propaganda purposes. The buildings and religious services seem to suggest some degree of freedom of religion or belief but that freedom is extremely limited according to the CSW report. All the churches are found in Pyongyang and there is no record of church buildings existing anywhere else.

The spreading of the Gospel is forbidden in North Korea. It is considered a crime against the state to do so. However, many North Koreans are exposed to Christianity through family ties, missionaries or external religious organizations and charities. Many of the Christians have to undertake their worship and other religious activities in secret. They either worship individually or at non-official house churches. Believers who are caught worshiping, running non-sanctioned churches or carrying non-sanctioned religious material are often arrested and hauled away to political prison camps.

Because the regime in North Korea was set up so that North Koreans would worship the Kims as their gods, there is nothing the leaders fear more than the spread of Christianity. The knowledge of the true and living God is the greatest threat to them. Let us Pray that the truth of God would spread throughout North Korea more than ever. Jesus said, “you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” (Jn. 8:32).

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 25, 2016

We thank God for another day of corporate worship. How good and pleasant it is for us to dwell together in unity.

During its kindergarten graduation this year, Springs Valley Elementary School in French lick, Indiana included a prayer offered by a six-year-old student. Following the ceremony, one parent who opposed the inclusion of prayer, made a report to the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF). In August, the foundation’s attorney, Ryan Jayne, sent a letter to the Springs Valley Community Schools Superintendent, Tony Whitaker, arguing that the school had committed a “constitutional violation.”

The attorney cited several cases indicating the school’s violation of the constitution. He mentioned a case as far back as 1962 with Engel vs. Vitale which ruled that school officials may not compose an official school prayer. He also cited the 1963 case of Abington vs. Schempp, where the Supreme Court declared school sponsored Bible reading to be unconstitutional. He further cited the case of Lee vs. Weisman in 1992, where the Supreme Court ruled that schools cannot sponsor clergy to come to the school to conduct prayer. To crown it all, the attorney made reference to the case of Santa Fe Independent School District vs. Doe in 2000, where the Supreme Court again ruled that any kind of policy permitting student-initiated prayer at school football games is unconstitutional.

According to the attorney, “The courts have continually reaffirmed that the rights of minorities are protected by the constitution. It makes no difference how many students or parents want prayer or would not be offended by prayer at their graduation.” He concluded by asking the school district to inform the FFRF in writing how it planned to address the organization’s concerns.

On September 8, Mr. Whitaker replied stating that the school district will comply with FFRF’s demand. It is very evident that the enemy, through agencies like the Freedom From Religion Foundation, is bent on making us into an ungodly nation by targeting even the innocent kindergartens. But Jesus said, “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” Mt. 18:6
