BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 18, 2016

We thank God for another day of corporate worship. How good and pleasant it is for us to dwell together in unity.

The Word of God presents Jesus Christ to us as “the same yesterday today and forever,” and so He is. A few weeks ago when the winds and the waves threatened to topple a small fleet of boats filled with refugees from the Middle East, Jesus made a most dramatic appearance to them and delivered them from eminent death. This thrilling account was given by Erick Schenkel, executive director of the Jesus Film project.

Schenkel states how a particular group of refugees from Syria and Iraq were fleeing from the Middle Eastern terror. They were all jammed into several pontoon boats trying to make it across the Aegean Sea to Greece. According to him, the seas were extremely rough and dangerous that day. As a result, some of the boats in the small fleet began to capsize. The refugees became very terrified and some of the people in one particular boat began to cry out to God for help. Suddenly a ‘shining heavenly figure’ appeared in that particular boat. Everyone knew that this was Jesus. He immediately calmed the raging storm.

Thereafter, the winds ceased and the sea became very calm and peaceful. The boats were then able to arrive safely on the shore. The refugees were all convinced that this heavenly figure was none other than Jesus Christ Himself. They all wanted to become followers of Jesus immediately, according to the report. Many weeks later the refugees were meeting together in a discipleship class at the refugee camp and shared their remarkable experience with the Bible teacher.

We thank God for the manifestation of His glory all across the world to draw men and women to Him. This is what global intercession does. So we want to encourage our global intercessors to remain faithful to their God-given responsibility. Do not get weary in well doing, for in due season you shall reap if you faint not. Let us all remember to pray for refugees who must now spend their days in camps without anything meaningful to do, and their nights without electricity, just sitting in the dark.

Message from Sis. Eddie Johnson:

With evidence from CT scans, the doctors suspected that I had a malignant mass on my pancreas with part of the mass attached to a major artery. I had an endoscopic ultrasound with optional fine needle aspiration biopsy done yesterday morning. (Sept. 14).

They did not need to take tissue samples because the mass on my pancreas including the part wrapped around the artery have disappeared!
Praise God, Hallelujah. It is gone! I am healed! Thank you Jesus!

Thank you for prayers. I love you for praying. And, my pain is gone. God is awesome!

__________________________________________________________________

Prayer
One more morning, after one more night,
One more thanks for keeping things right,
One prayer to bed, one as you rise,
Good morning God, thanks for another sun rise,
Prayer is the fuel that keep us going,
Through troubled times, pray for strength keep rowing,
And without fear step out, face the unknowing,
Although all around negativity blowing,
Every day, even one positive seed, try sowing,
Within my veins, God love is flowing,
God is my friend, the devil, not interested to know him,
Here comes the garbage truck, over there throw him,
Don’t just say you love God, pray show Him,
Remember prayer keeps us, spiritual growing…

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 11, 2016

We are happy to have you join us again today. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord and to sing praises unto His name.

Wycliffe Bible Translators have started a new campaign that seeks to encourage discussion about the Gospel. The campaign also seeks to show that even though statistics suggest that millennials and teenagers are becoming less engaged with God, the Bible still matters greatly in people’s lives.

Scott Everhart, senior director of marketing at Wycliffe Bible Translators, told The Christian Post in an interview about the new campaign, called #WhyBible. He said that there are many forces at work looking to downplay the role of God’s Word in people’s lives today, such as the distraction of technology and other social pressures.

Everhart revealed that the idea behind #WhyBible was born from a millennial member of the Wycliffe Bible Translators team, who was sitting in church one Sunday and studying the people around him. He observed that there were not many people in attendance who were his age or in similar walks of life. According to Everhart, Research confirms this observation, reflecting that an increasing number of Christians, particularly younger believers are not embracing the value of Bible teaching and its power to change lives.

The State of the Bible surveys, along with other research, have for years shown that the percentage of Americans, especially young people who view the Bible skeptically continues to rise. But despite the increasing numbers of Bible skeptics, Barna’s research found that most Americans continue to believe that the Bible has been the most influential text that has affected humanity, and that it contains everything a person needs to know in order to live a meaningful life.

The Bible remains a best seller and is the only book that tells us where we came from, what we are doing here and where we are going. It is the only book that tells us “about our role in God’s design and kingdom, and how our lives are touched with purpose and meaning…”

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 4, 2016

We are happy to have you join us again today. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord and to sing praises unto His name.

Praise the Lord! Law makers in Egypt voted on Tuesday in favor of a new law that would ease that country’s historic restrictions on church construction. More than 160 years ago, the Ottoman Caliphatic ordered that anyone who wanted to build a Christian church would have to receive the approval of the country’s ruler. At the time, it represented progress since for centuries building a church was a rare occurrence since it was not permitted under Islamic Sharia Law. This law was in place for nearly 80 years before some administrative regulations were introduced to make it even more difficult. Christians were required to gain the approval of local Muslims and to make sure that the proposed church was at least 340 feet from the nearest mosque. They also could not build near schools, village canals, railways, government offices, government facilities, or between residential areas.

Over the past 60 years, on an average scale, only two churches a year have been built. Egypt has a total of less than 2,600 churches. This works out to be about 1 for every 5,500 Egyptian Christians. (By comparison, there is about 1 mosque for every 620 Muslims in Egypt.) Christians end up meeting in overcrowded churches, in house basements, or in the premises of NGOs. But since these churches are not legal, they are vulnerable and have proved to be an easy target for Islamist extremists. In 2013, during Egypt’s civil unrest, 52 churches were destroyed, 12 were damaged and 29 people were killed, according to the U.S. State Department. In July of 2015, a mob firebombed a church in Alexandria and the police were very slow to respond. This summer a violent mob set on fire the homes of 80 Christians after they learned that one of the homes was to be used as a house church.

Under the new law, the church must apply to the local provincial governor for permission to construct a church building. The law also stipulates that the size of the structure must be in proportion to the number of Christians in the particular area, along with a few other directives. We give God praise for this victory for the church in Egypt and trust that it would result in a great harvest for the kingdom of God. Amen!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY AUGUST 28, 2016

We are happy to have you join us as we celebrate God and His goodness today. May you be richly blessed.

Historic accounts in the New Testament about the life of Jesus were further confirmed by the recently discovered ruins of a first century synagogue in Israel. Located near Mount Tabor in the Nahal Tavor Nature Reserve in lower Galilee at a site called Tel Recesh, the synagogue ruins date back to the time of the Second Temple period, which ended in AD 79 when the Romans attacked Jerusalem. Motti Aviam, a senior researcher at the Kinneret Institute for Galilean Archaeology at the Kinneret College on the Sea of Galilee, explained in a statement the significance of the Tel Rechest excavation find. He said, “This is the first synagogue discovered in the rural part of Galilee and it confirms historical information we have about the New Testament, which says that Jesus preached at synagogues in Galilean villages.”

While there have been other synagogues from the Second Temple period discovered before, this is the very first one to be found in a rural rather than an urban setting. In an interview with YNet News, Motti Aviam explained why the findings at the Tel Rechesh site make this place so important to Christians. He said, “The New Testament describes how Jesus delivered sermons in a synagogue in Capernaum and other synagogues in Galilee.” He further stated that “During the same period, Jesus was still a Jew who observed Jewish rituals and requirements and like many rabbis, He delivered sermons in synagogues. Christianity which developed after placed an emphasis on his sermons at synagogues in Galilee.”

But it must be noted that this is not the first major find in Israel this year which is connected to the times of Jesus. In the month of March, the Israel Antiquities Authority announced that it had found several artifacts buried beneath the Schneller compound in Jerusalem. Many of these artifacts dated back to the Second Temple period. All these findings just serve to validate the truth of the Bible. They prove that the Bible is not a book of fiction but rather a book of facts. They prove that the existence of Jesus in the earth was not a figment of somebody’s imagination but a fact. Therefore we can rely upon the eternal Word of God. Amen!

The Rock – by Julia Townsend

A man was sleeping at night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light and the Savior appeared. The Lord told the man he had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock with all his might.

This the man did, day after day. For many years he toiled from sun up to sun down, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might.

Each night the man returned to his cabin sore, and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain. Seeing that the man was showing signs of discouragement, the Evil Impulse decided to enter the picture by placing thoughts into the man’s weary mind: “You have been pushing against that rock for a long time, and it hasn’t budged. Why kill yourself over this? You are never going to move it.” Thus giving the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was a failure, these thoughts discouraged and disheartened the “Why kill myself over this?” he thought. “I’ll just put in my time, giving just the minimum effort and that will be good enough.”

And that he planned to do until one day he decided to make it a matter of prayer and take his troubled thoughts to the Lord. “Lord”, he said, “I have labored long and hard in your service, putting all my strength to do that which you have asked. Yet, after all this time, I have not even budged that rock by half a millimeter. What is wrong? Why am I failing?”

The Lord responded compassionately, “My friend, when I asked you to serve me and you accepted, I told you that your task was to push against the rock with all your strength, which you have done. Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. Your task was to push. And now you come to me, with your strength spent, thinking that you have failed. But, is that really so? “Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscled, your back sinewed and brown, your hands are callused from constant pressure, and your legs have become massive and hard. Through opposition you have grown much and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have.

Yet you haven’t moved the rock. But your calling was to be obedient and to push and to exercise your faith and trust in My wisdom. This you have done. “I, my friend, will now move the rock.”

At times when we hear a word from God, we tend to use our own intellect to decipher what He wants, when actually what God wants is just simple obedience and faith in Him……. By all means, exercise the faith that moves mountains, but it is still God who moves them.

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY AUGUST 21, 2016

Welcome to FEA. You are in the right place and God is going to minister unto you today. Praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord that children too are taking a bold stand for God. Recently, it was reported that eight children 9 to 16 years old, from a village in Uganda, were beaten by their families and cast away as “infidels” after giving their lives to Jesus Christ. The pastor who led them to Christ is now facing serious death threats.

The eight children converted to Christianity after meeting with 29-year-old Pastor Brian Mukisa from the Power Gates Church. Upon telling their parents about their conversion and newly discovered love for Jesus, the children were beaten and forbidden from attending worship services. According to Morning Star News, the parents followed this up by retaliating against the church with the help of members from the local mosque. They burned down Power Gates’ rented facility, forcing the Pastor to relocate his congregation to a temporary home about 6 miles away.

Morning Star News reports that one of the enraged Muslims has even threatened to kill the Pastor. “Your church activities will not be tolerated in this area,” the angry man was quoted as saying. “If you do not leave our village, then we shall soon come for your life. Pastor Mukisa said that many of the children are still recovering from injuries they sustained from their parents’ beatings and have now taken refuge with various members of the church. He also added that the parents have totally disowned these children as infidels,” and that they need prayers to come to terms with the separation from parents as a result of choosing Christ.”

We need to pray for Pastor Mukisa, these children and the church in Uganda as a whole. They are dwelling in a very dangerous environment. Busalamu is a Muslim stronghold. In December of 2015, five Christians were killed in eastern Uganda after their food at a Bible study was poisoned with a pesticide. Just five days later, a Christian pastor in was hacked to death after opposing an effort by radical Muslims to take away the church’s land. The Word of God tells us that “…all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” (2 Tim. 3:12)

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY AUGUST 14, 2016

Welcome to FEA. You are in the right place and something good is going to happen to you today. Praise the Lord!

Recently a group called The Satanic Temple, has launched a nationwide after school club in an attempt to counter Christian organizations in public schools. The club is known as the “After School Satanic Club”. It was created in response to the Christian Good News Club which is established in public schools throughout the nation. The spokesperson and cofounder of The Satanic Temple, who goes by the name of Lucien Greaves, told The Christian Post that the presence of Christian clubs in public schools has “created the need for a counter-balance in the extracurricular options.”

Greaves claims that the Good News Club teaches children shame, guilt, fear and that they will die and be tormented in hell. But the After School Satanic Club will focus on art projects and education with no religious opinion inserted. “The program is merely created and operated by The Satanic Temple,” said Greaves. “There is no attempt to indoctrinate the children.” He also said that there are as many as nine schools which have already set up these satanic chapters and that he expects the increased media attention to lead more students to express an interest in starting more clubs.

The Good News Club is a ministry of the nondenominational group, Child Evangelism Fellowship. It has a total of approximately 4,500 chapters nationwide. Moises Esteves, vice president of USA Ministries for Child Evangelism Fellowship, believes that the Satanic Club is just another atheist PR stunt that would soon fade away. He said, “Like those before it, this club will fizzle out, because parents don’t view their children as pawns for a blend of political activism, religious critique and performance art by angry atheists.”

However, we tend to share a different opinion from Moises Estreves. We see this as a strategy of the devil to capture the minds of our children. We must never underestimate any effort of the enemy. We must always perceive it for what it is and deal with it accordingly. Satan’s work doesn’t just fizzle out; we have to drive it out. Therefore, we must use our spiritual weapons and destroy this evil. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds…” (1Cor. 10:4). Amen!

When You Hit a Detour, Don’t Give Up!
By Rick Warren

“God is always on the alert, constantly on the lookout for people who are totally committed to him” (2 Chronicles 16:9 MSG).

When God gives you a mission, you can be sure you’ll run into delays, difficulties, detours, and dead ends along the way. They are a natural part of life. But you can be ready for them. For example, if anybody had a right to be discouraged, it was Noah. Do you know how long it took Noah to build the ark? 120 years. Could you go 120 years on a project without one word of encouragement from anyone?

Noah trusted God. And when he heard God’s warning about the future, Noah believed him, even though there was no sign of a flood. I bet there were many days that Noah didn’t feel like going to work, but for 43,800 days, he went to the same place, and he worked. He never gave up.

Don’t give up on your dream, either. Don’t give up on your marriage. Don’t give up on your health. Don’t, don’t, don’t give up. God is in control. You haven’t read the final chapter of your life. God’s already written it, but you haven’t read it yet. The Bible says, “God is always on the alert, constantly on the lookout for people who are totally committed to him” (2 Chronicles 16:9 MSG). God is looking for people who are committed to him and his plan so that he can bless them.

Don’t you want to be one of those people? Then don’t give up!

Talk It Over
What is the God-size dream you’ve been ready to give up on because of difficulties and delays?
How have you grown spiritually through the detours and delays in your life?
How do you want God to bless you as you commit your life fully to him?

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY AUGUST 7, 2016

Welcome to FEA, where God is raising up an army of world overcomers. May your heart be blessed today.

An alleged discovery of freshwater pools along the shores of the Dead Sea, which borders Jordan, Israel and the West Bank, is leading to a claim of the fulfillment of biblical end- time prophecy. Breaking Israel News recently highlighted Samantha Siegel, a Jewish artisan baker from Jerusalem, who frequently takes trips to the Dead Sea. She reported discovering freshwater pools in the Dead Sea area. Although no official sources are linked in the article, the report asserts that the Dead Sea has been receding by 1 meter every year and that sinkholes around it have been filling up with fresh water and are teeming with fish. She refers to it as a prophecy appearing before her eyes that seems to contradict the laws of nature.

The Dead Sea is more than 400 meters below sea level and is the lowest point on the planet. Because of its hyper-saline environment, it is a harsh place where life is not welcomed, hence its name. In a YouTube video which Sandra Siegel posted online, she calls these things “signs of the times” when the Dead Sea finally comes to life. The report suggests that such discoveries signal the start of the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies about the Dead Sea in Zechariah 14:8 and Ezekiel 47:8-9, where the Bible speaks about the healing waters. The report further notes that in 2011, a team of researchers from Ben Gurion University in the Negev, sent divers to the floor of the Dead Sea. There they found fresh water flowing in from craters that were 15 meters across and 20 meters deep. These craters were “carpeted with mats of microorganisms, showing that the Dead Sea was not entirely dead.”

Scientific research has surely proved the existence of life at the bottom of the Dead Sea. However, due to a unique set of circumstances, signs of life have begun appearing on its very shores, just as it is written in the Book of the Prophets, the report claims.

In light of all these happenings, the Breaking Israel News article argues that the beginnings of the prophecy are in place, only waiting to spring forth. The fact remains that God’s Word is true. We are living in the end times and we can expect the fulfillment of prophecy as God’s Word has predicted for this time. We must therefore look up for our redemption is near. Amen.

Church Etiquette

Worship is the time when the people of God come before His presence as a community of faith in corporate worship. As such, it should be regarded with seriousness and sacredness. The things listed below will assist in preparing those, who participate in Good Tidings’ worship service, for the blessings received during and from the service.

-Come on time
-Come regularly
-Come with a mind to work in the church’s ministries. (Nehemiah 4:6, 16-19)
-It’s okay if you don’t have “Church Clothes”, God sees the heart.
-Begin to worship before you get to church by praying to God at home and on the way to church.
-Do not walk unnecessarily, especially during the sermon, Scripture reading, invitation to discipleship, and prayers.
-Do not walk onto the pulpit unless invited by the Pastor, a minister or deacon.
-Do not walk unnecessarily. It disturbs others and the sancticy of worship.
-Do not leave before the Benediction. This is the final blessing you will not want to miss.
-Do not leave the LORD in the sanctuary when you depart. Take the name of JESUS with you and serve the community of Christ.

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY JULY 31, 2016

Welcome to FEA where we are holding forth the Word of life. May the life of God come into your heart and your world today.

Chinese students attending a Christian house church in the central Guizhou province are being threatened by government authorities who are warning them that if they don’t stop going to the church, they will be barred from going to college. This notice was sent to all schools in the area. The house church members have also reportedly been pressured into signing a document vowing that they will not take children into the church. Additionally, parents have been told that they will be sued if they take their children to church, while the children themselves will not be allowed to take the college entrance exam or be admitted into the army.

There are also other disturbing reports. China Aid reporter said that students at Zhejiang Theological Seminary are now being forced to submit to the Communist Party, even to the extent of putting the state ahead of God. Meanwhile, Churches in the Pingyang County have been told to hand over all of their tithes and donations to government officials. One local Christian man said that government officials interfere in church affairs and seek to manage the donations that churches receive, as well as their long-term projects.

However, despite the increasing persecution of Christians in China, The Christian Post is reporting that the communist country is on track to having the largest population in the world by the year 2030, should Jesus tarry so long. According to Rodney Pennington, vice president for mobilization of OMF, a mission’s organization, “By 2030, China will almost certainly have the most evangelical Christians, and will greatly shape the global evangelical church in the coming years.”

We are indeed saddened over the persecution in China. But the prospect of over 200 million Chinese Christians by the year 2030 is very encouraging. It gives us greater motivation to pray for the Church in China. Let us not fail to do so.
