BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 08, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

All over America, there is a great outpouring of prayer for the nation and for the elections. Believers are gathering together online and in corporate settings, fasting and praying for God’s intervention. “We need you, God,” they cry out with one voice. “Have mercy on our land! Even in other countries, believers are fasting and praying for America right now. We stand at a pivotal time in our history, and as America goes, much of the world goes. But the worst thing we could do is to stop praying now, because now more than ever we need to pray for our nation. Desperate prayer will be needed just as much during and after the elections.

In some ways it seems as though our nation is unraveling before our eyes. Yet this is a nation that was built on Judeo-Christian principles. Our first president, George Washington, made the following statement: “To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian.” The very liberty we have to express our feelings and declare our rights was given to us because we built this nation on the foundation of a belief in God. But this foundation has eroded. There was a time in our nation when we had the Ten Commandments on the wall of every classroom. But now we’ve removed them and have disregarded them. Now we’re seeing the effects of it, because the Bible says, when you sow the wind, you will reap the whirlwind (Hosea 8:7).

Our nation was born out of the soil of revival. George Whitefield, an evangelist from England, came to the colonies and preached the gospel. Thousands of people believed, and it was in the wake of this revival that our nation was formed. If we’re going to continue as a nation, and be a success, we will need to return to our spiritual foundation.  Simply put, we need to return to God.

What then is the future of our country? Are we doomed to go in the way of so many other nations? Will America end up on the ash heap of history? Or, are our greatest days still ahead? One thing we can be assured of is this, God has a plan for our nation, even with regard to these elections, and it is a good plan.  He said, “I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jer. 29:11

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, October 25, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

Once again China has acted to make the lives of Christians there even more unbearable. They have recently tightened restrictions on the distribution of religious materials by threatening fines, the closure of printing shops, or even imprisonment for selling Christian books or allowing customers to photocopy hymns. BITTER WINTER, a publication that monitors religious liberty violations in China, reported that this month, Chinese Communist Party officials in the central province of Henan, searched a local printing press for banned religious materials. One store manager told BITTER WINTER, because inspections are so rigorous, he refuses to print religious materials. “They checked my storehouse, scrutinized all records, and even looked at paper sheets on the floor, to see if they have prohibited content. “If any such content is found, I’ll be fined, or worse, my business will be closed.”

A worker at a photocopying business in Luoyang revealed that the ban on illegal religious materials applies also to the photocopying of hymns. Those who print religious materials face harsh repercussions, including fines, and in some cases, imprisonment. One printer said that he can’t even dare to make copies of two sheets with religious hymns because of strict investigations. “I was told to report anyone who comes to copy religious materials,” he said. A worker at another shop told BITTER WINTER the following, “If we are not sure if a text is religious, we must keep its copy and report it to authorities. Unapproved religious publications importedTop of Form from other countries are labeled Bottom of Form as “contraband.”

The authorities in China now exert strict control over mailed goods. Only the mailing of government-approved books is allowed. All books containing religious information are not allowed to be dispatched. If public security authorities discover violations of these regulations, the company will be fined and closed down. Just last month, a Christian man who operated an online bookstore in Zhejiang province’s Taizhou city, was sentenced to seven years in prison and fined 200,000 RMB ($29,450) for selling unapproved religious publications. Police also reportedly launched a nationwide investigation to track down the bookstore’s customers through sale records and confiscate their purchased books.

China is ranked as one of the worst countries in the world when it comes to the persecution of Christians, according to Open Doors USA’s World Watch List. Yet on the 13th of this month, China was elected to the United Nations Human Rights Council. What irony! Let us pray earnestly for our fellow brethren in China bearing in mind 2Tim 4:18, “And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom; to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen!”

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, October 18, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

According to Pastor John MacArthur of Grace Community Church in California, the anti-Christian COVID restrictions that have been placed on churches can be compared to the ruthless beginnings of tyranny under Hitler and Stalin. Faced with opposition from even some church-going traditional believers, he made the case for his decision to keep Grace Community Church open for worship in California.  MacArthur blistered misguided Christian adherence to church closures on the basis of biblical orders to submit to earthly authority.  MacArthur said that actions taken by figures like California Governor, Gavin Newsom, amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all but explicitly required that people of faith put government before God.

Pastor John MacArthur is calling on pastors and church leaders across America to reopen their churches despite COVID-19 restrictions by “leftist and secular government officials” who seek to “shut us down.” According to The Blaze, MacArthur released a video on his official Twitter account on Wednesday, which has since gone viral with over 550,000 views. Pastor MacArthur thinks that today’s crop of politicians are just trampling on the Constitution and on the resolve of citizens to demand their rights under the pressure of a manufactured fear. He is of the opinion that churches have a special protection from the Constitution. MacArthur is in the midst of an ongoing legal battle with California officials for holding church services amid coronavirus restrictions.

MacArthur thinks that this is obviously targeted discrimination. He said that “Leftists and secular government officials have no tolerance for biblical Christianity, so they’re using COVID as an excuse to shut us down”, while at the same time the abortion clinics, strip clubs, and marijuana dispensaries have been left alone. MacArthur further explained that he had initially followed the restrictions when the virus first hit the state of California, but that Grace Community Church members gradually returned on their own because they didn’t believe the narrative the local government and media were giving them. “This is a watershed moment in America,” MacArthur asserted. “We have been granted by God the freedom to meet as a church, and that is protected by the Constitution. We need to be the church, not only because we’re free to be the church, but because we’re commanded to be the church by the Lord Jesus Christ, the head of the church. This is a time of all times to meet as the church. The church is essential.” he concluded. Let us pray for Pastor MacArthur and Grace Community Church, that God would give them victory in this legal battle. There is a biblical mandate for the church to meet. Hebrews 10:25 states the following, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Amen!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, October 11, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

The number of full Bible translations to be done reached a grand total of 700 in recent weeks. But due to the speed at which translations have been released, no one is very sure which of the translators was the first one to reach the mark. Both Wycliffe Bible Translations and the American Bible Society celebrated the news, saying it is a major milestone in advancing the gospel. This 700 total involves complete Bibles with all 66 books translated. Partial translations such as New Testaments are not included. James Poole, executive director of Wycliffe Bible Translations said that the milestone represents the tremendous work that Bible translators are doing across the world.

Every time we hear of the Bible being translated into another language, we know it indicates that for the first time the people in that particular language group can fully access the complete picture of God’s Word. James Poole said, “It’s good to take a step back and realize what this 700th Bible means: 5.7 billion people who speak 700 languages now have the Bible in the language that speaks to them best. That is a remarkable figure and continues to grow.”

An American Bible Society blog quoted data pointing out that the number of languages with the full Bible has doubled in the past 30 years, from 351 in 1990 to 700 in 2020. It further pointed out that Bible translation has accelerated in the past few decades due to advances in translation technology and an unprecedented level of partnership among Bible translation agencies. American Bible Society CEO Robert Briggs said, “We are grateful to God, our ministry partners, and the financial partners whose generosity makes this Kingdom work possible.” Wycliffe listed three recent Bible translations that could have been the 700th translation: (1) The Huichol Bible, which is used by an indigenous people of Mexico. (2) The Ellomwe Bible, which is read by a people group in Malawi and Mozambique. (3) The Igede Bible, which is used by a Nigerian ethnic group.

But despite this great and outstanding achievement in Bible translations, there are still approximately 1.5 billion people, or one in every five people in the world, who still do not have a Bible in their language, according to Wycliffe Bible Translations. This is a wrong which Bible Translation teams worldwide are busy seeking to rectify. Let us pray for the accomplishment of this goal.  Jesus said, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed in the whole earth, for a testimony to all the nations; and then the end will come.” (Mt. 24:14).

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

The annual pro-life prayer vigil campaign – 40 Days for Life, began last Wednesday, September 23 and continues until Thursday, November l. It will reportedly break a record this year for the most participating cities ever, despite pandemic-related shutdowns. This event involves pro-life activists regularly praying outside of abortion clinics seven days a week for the entire 40-day period. Shawn Carney, president and CEO of the group, 40 Days for Life, told The Christian Post that 588 cities were participating this year, the largest since the observance was first held in 2007. He said, “Many thought that the pandemic and civil unrest in our streets would be a deterrent, but I am so proud of the local leaders who came out in droves to apply, train, and lead their campaign locally.”

Carney also told the Christian Post that for the prayer campaign, his organization enhanced and expanded their training, not only for the pandemic but also for security and keeping all participants safe. He further pointed out that the campaign is ready for any potential litigation, explaining that they have extensive legal support available just in case a vigil faces legal harassment. He categorically stated that If any local judge attempts to use COVID-19 as a vehicle to suppress their rights, they are prepared to respond and defend those rights as Americans.

Dorothy Zarelli, director of the local campaign for Tacoma, Washington, explained to the Christian Post that their vigil is taking place at the Cedar River Clinic, a late-term abortion provider. They are on the sidewalk praying and holding signs. They do not march, yell nor confront anyone. They are just there praying for the unborn and witnessing to individuals.  They also have information on CareNet, a facility where pregnant woman can go get help with their pregnancy and a free ultrasound. Zarelli also noted that their campaign is featuring four two-hour shifts seven days a week, with approximately 60 people being involved and at least two individuals present per shift. Paula Grimm of the Right to Life League heads up the campaign for Pasadena, California. She said that she first took part in a 40 Days for Life years ago as a college student. She pointed out that her group constitutes a total of 160 persons up to this point and it continues to expand rapidly.

It is very clear that the passion to help women and their unborn children is at an all-time high despite nearly 50 years of legalized abortion in our nation. All reports indicate that the pro-life movement is increasing rapidly and is attracting younger people more and more. Our nation is guilty of slaughtering millions of babies. This is very grievous to the heart of God and we need to repent before the wrath of God is poured out. Let us pray for the success of this 40 Days for Life venture that it would result in national repentance for this brutal and wicked act. Amen!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

Last Sunday in heat rising well above 100 degrees, over 12,000 Christians gathered on the steps of the California Capitol building in Sacramento to pray and worship together. The event was organized by Sean Feucht, a California-based worship leader who has been leading open-air worship events across the nation since July, to inspire hope in the midst of the pandemic, and to encourage the Church to be strong in the midst of government shutdowns. Governor Newsom had forbade churches from worshipping over the summer, inspiring Feucht to begin these “Let Us Worship” events.

Last Sunday’s 2-hour event, took place directly in front of the Capitol building. A team of worshippers led the crowd in several worship songs. Speakers led everyone in prayer for California and for a nationwide spiritual awakening. At one point during the event, Feucht led a prayer for those who wanted to give or re-dedicate their lives to Christ. Several in the crowd raised their hands to join the prayer.

The events have attracted criticism from the media in light of the current COVID-19 crisis. But Feucht said during the event, that not a single case of COVID has ever been traced back to any of their gatherings throughout 20 cities. Video was captured of the 12,000-strong crowd shouting in praise and celebration to God Almighty. India Ruckle, a 20 year old, said she attended the event because she wanted to feel normal again and to find hope and believe that there were other people longing for community and worship.“I feel like these events are important because they spread the Word and good news that there is hope in Jesus,” Ruckle said.

It is important to note that salvations, miracles, and baptisms have been a regular feature at these worship gatherings. For this, we give God praise and glory. The kingdom of God is being expanded more and more. Feucht intends to continue hosting these events in the present distress. Let us remember to pray for these gatherings, as opposition can arise sometimes, like in the case of one that was held in Seattle. Feucht said that there was great resistance from ANTIFA members, counter-protesters, and others who wanted to disrupt the effort. May God continue to prosper these kingdom efforts of Sean Feucht in Jesus Amen!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

In response to the ongoing COVID pandemic, hundreds of Christians recently gathered in a field in Ashland, Ohio as ministry leaders and elected officials called the people to prayer and repentance. During the event, Ashland Mayor Matt Miller dedicated the city to Jesus Christ, and County Commissioner Emmitt Justice asked God to forgive the nation for its rebellion against Him. Part of his prayer was as follows, “As I stand before you tonight, in the bright light of His Son, to the extent I am able, I give this city of Ashland to the Lord Jesus Christ,” Miller proclaimed. “May this be a land where He rules supreme. May this be a land where His love is genuinely felt by believers and non-believers alike.”

According to Frontlines Ohio, 25 churches associated with the Ashland County Ministerial Association participated in the “Call to Sacred Assembly” at Freer Field. It was noted that people were looking to politicians for answers in the present COVID environment, when they should be looking to the Lord. “We’d been talking about, ‘What is the proper response to the crisis that we’re in?’” John Bouquet, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Savannah, told the Times Gazette. “And we’ve sure heard plenty of political and medical responses, but we felt like we needed a spiritual response.” He explained that the organizers looked to the Book of Joel as their pattern for the gathering.

The Bible speaks in Joel 1:13-14 of a solemn (sacred) assembly. This is a public calling for repentance from our sins and consecration unto God. This is exactly what was done in Ashland. The various speakers spoke on issues surrounding the family, the community and government, pointing to Scripture as the guide. State Representative, Darrell Kick, told those gathered that there is a group of lawmakers who meet for Bible study before a vote. He said that he was not aware of another district where the mayor committed the city to Jesus Christ and a county commissioner asked forgiveness for the sins of the county. Pastor Bouquet said that the Ministerial Association also plans to organize a “Prayer Force,” in which pastors will visit various churches on weekdays throughout September to pray for revival in the county.

What happened in Ashland is exactly the kind of response that God is looking for not only in that county, but throughout the entire nation. We need to humble ourselves before God and cry out in true repentance. God said if we do that He would hear from heaven and forgive our sins

and heal our land. Let us pray earnestly that this would become our national response in this present crisis. Amen!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, AUGUST 16, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

San Luis Obispo County, located in central California, has now been declared a sanctuary county for churches struggling to cope with state restrictions on worship gatherings. This was recently confirmed by the County’s District Attorney, Dan Dow.  He said that he will not be prosecuting churches for holding worship services or for singing in church, which was deemed unlawful by an order from California Governor, Gavin Newsom. In many counties, pastors have had to decide between revolting and abiding by the order.  Gov. Newsom’s order to ban or limit church gatherings has led to lawsuits from various churches.

Dan Dow said in a video which was shared via Twitter, “I declare San Luis Obispo County a sanctuary county for singing and praising in our houses of worship. Inherent with my responsibility to enforce the law is the discretion I have … to pursue only those charges that are warranted and are in the interest of justice.”

More than 30 counties in California are not allowed to gather for church services, according to Newsom’s order that places even greater restrictions on counties included in the state’s COVID-19 watch list. Gatherings of 10 people or more in households in those counties are also banned, essentially prohibiting some home Bible study gatherings. Whether a church can legally gather or not, singing during worship is disallowed under Gov. Newsom’s order.

Dow said he stands by the speech, reaffirming his stance on Newsom’s gathering ban. “Now more than ever in 2020, we need more people attending their houses of worship and seeking help from the Almighty for an answer to the coronavirus,” he said. “In that spirit, I’m calling on people of faith in our county and across our state, across our country and across the world, to pray for peace [and] healing.” Dow also acknowledged the thousands of prisoners that have been freed in California due to the coronavirus. He stressed how unfair it would be if he were to prosecute a person for attending a religious service.

We thank God for men like District Attorney Dan Dow, who are prepared to take a stand on the side of Almighty God. But God help us when in our nation a district attorney is forced to declare his county as a sanctuary for church worship gatherings. After all, we are the only nation that proclaims boldly on our currency “In God we trust”. But our actions surely indicate differently. May God help us as a nation to give Him His rightful place indeed. Amen!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, AUGUST 09, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

A recent American Bible Society report shows that scripture engagement has fallen during the coronavirus pandemic. According to the 10th annual State of the Bible Report, scripture engagement is directly tied to in-person church participation.

According to Robert Briggs, American Bible Society president and CEO,”Faith communities have demonstrated incredible resilience, innovation and empathy through the pandemic. But this survey reveals that a big opportunity still remains for christian organizations to make an impact on scripture engagement.” Briggs further pointed out that despite the fact that nearly every individual in the United States of America have access to the Bible, it is very clear that engagement with the Bible has decreased. That has been a consistent trend over the past few years, and the trend has accelerated since January 2020 throughout the pandemic. The church must therefore transition from survival mode back into discipleship mode, and surely that is going to take even greater innovation.

A 2019 report found that approximately 35 percent of American adults said they never used the Bible outside of a church service. In January, that number remained about the same, but by June 2020, that same number declined to 31 percent. Respondents said that they found it difficult to maintain a study of the Bible during the pandemic as stay-at-home orders and other restrictions closed churches across the nation. Americans who said they use the Bible daily fell to just one in 10. This is the lowest number on record during a decade of the State of the Bible report. Among other findings, the report found that About 172 million adults are “Bible curious.” In June 2020, more Americans said they were exploring the Bible for the first time than they did in January 2020. Also, Americans who have been personally impacted by the coronavirus are more likely to read the Bible now.

This study supports the fact that the church plays a very vital role in benefitting people’s wellbeing as a whole and their engagement with Scripture.  In order to increase scripture engagement, we must increase relational connections with one another through the church.

The pandemic, along with this survey, have shown that when relational church engagement goes up, so does scripture engagement, but when it goes down, scripture engagement drops. In other words, it is probably the relationships people have with one another through the church that really help to make the difference. May God help us to become more scripturally conscious.

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, AUGUST 02, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

A recent article in the Christian Post by Rev. Mark Cree, stressed the importance of corporate public worship even during a pandemic. He calls attention to the habitual practice of Jesus in going to the temple, “And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day…” (Luke 4:16). It is difficult to diminish the critical importance of attending corporate public worship when we understand that even Jesus Christ Himself made it a habit. Regular church attendance is something that should characterize the life of everyone who identifies as a follower of Christ. In one of the great exhortations of Scripture, we as Christians are told not to engage in “forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” (Heb. 10:25).

A recent report from Barna Research states that “One-third of all practicing Christians haven’t been watching either their church online or another church’s streaming worship services since the state lockdowns…” The report said this trend highlights the importance of churches continuing to reach out and disciple the next generation, especially those who are seemingly falling away during the pandemic.

This Barna report comes at the same time a particular megachurch pastor, who has a high national profile, just announced that his church is suspending in-person services until 2021. The pastor said the reason was that the leadership could not guarantee the safety of the congregants. But, according to Rev. Mark Cree, one can’t help wondering which safety this pastor was speaking about, the people’s physical or spiritual health? It appears that he was speaking about being unable to protect them from COVID-19. “But is the spiritual somehow less vital than the physical?” asked Rev. Cree. He made reference to the one hundred and thirty-five cases of persecution that occurred in the first half of 2020 against Christians in India. Some were lynched, some experienced community ostracization and even sexual assault according to one report. Do we think that their church leadership could guarantee their safety when attending church?”

We are living in a time when we are experiencing the birth pangs of the end time. Those birth pangs increase with intensity each passing day. Certain signs of the times indicate that the return of Jesus Christ is very

near. Isn’t that what the Scripture is telling us in Hebrews 10:25 which we referred to earlier? Since our redemption is drawing near, isn’t this the time when we should be following our Lord’s example by giving ourselves all the more to the place of worship and prayer? May we commit ourselves to doing so.
