BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, OCTOBER 02, 2022

We welcome you to WOM, where we are overcoming through faith in the Word. May God bless you richly today.

Christians in Zambia, Africa, are now celebrating the latest milestone in Bible translation, the creation of Bibles written in their native tongues. According to CBN News, the effort is led by Wycliffe Associates, an organization that offers Bible translations in countless languages. Currently, over 5,000 people are working in Zambia to translate the Bible into 20 native languages. Bishop Henry Mumba, a pastor and church planter, is assisting church-owned translation work in Munsa. He recalled how he heard his first Bible verse when he was 19 years old. “My pastor was a missionary from another country,” Mumba told CBN News in an interview. “And he came into this town and when they preached the Gospel to me, the first verse that I knew was John 3:16. Believers in Mansa, Zambia, were reportedly dancing after they got to read and listen to the reading of the New Testament in Aushi, their native language, for the very first time ever.

The bishop also shared that the Bible is the first written literature in the Aushi language. “We’ve never had anything before,” he said. In addition to the Aushi translation, the New Testament was translated into Nynja and Laya. “Our country has 73 languages. And only seven were considered official languages. Those were the only ones who had scripture translated,” pastor Buster Paul Tembo of Livingston explained.

Tembo, who leads church-owned translation work in Livingston, contended that Christians having access to the Scriptures in their own language makes a “great spiritual impact in their lives. When you bring it out in your own language, when you read it out in your own language, even the interpretation of it to the people, the understanding you have or bring to the people is so clear,” he said.

Simoun Ung, the President and CEO of Wycliffe Associates, explained that the term “church-owned Bible translation” means that the local church owns the translation process and the production of the Scriptures. According to Ung, one major challenge is determining how to accelerate the translation process without giving up the quality of the translation. “When you see the field, you see the need for scriptures. People are dying every day without coming to know the Lord. And so the urgency for us is really there, in terms of being able to press forward,” she said.

We thank God for this latest achievement in Bible translation that Christians in Zambia, Africa, are now celebrating. Let us pray that this would result in a more rapid spread of the Gospel there and a great harvest of souls for the Kingdom of God. The Bible says, “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come” (Matt. 24:14). Thank God it is happening and the end is near indeed!

~THE YEAR OF YOUR BREAKTHROUGH~

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, AUGUST 21, 2022

We welcome you to WOM, where we are overcoming through faith in the Word. May God bless you richly today.

According to World Net Daily (WND), a rainbow-colored jersey meant to promote the LGBT ideology has been rejected by seven Australian rugby league players, who withdrew from a game rather than wear the article of clothing that offended their Christian faith. Sky News reported that the players are from the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, based in Sydney, Australia. The seven players said they would not wear the jersey based on religious and cultural grounds.

The report explained that the team, without consulting the players, got the jerseys with rainbow logos replacing the previously white stripe and collar on the ordinary jersey. “Coach Des Hasler defended the players, saying the club was at fault for not properly consulting them,” the report explained.  They were not even given the choice of wearing the standard jersey, because under National Rugby League rules, all players on a team must dress alike.

The coach told reporters he accepted the players’ decision.Top of FormBottom of Form He said, “These young men are strong in their beliefs and their convictions and we will give them the space and the support they require.” The team didn’t even bother to let the players know of its social-ideology advocacy before it boasted of the new jerseys to the media. The coach said, “Sadly, the execution of what was intended to be an extremely important initiative was poor. There was little consultation or collaboration between key stakeholders, both inside and outside the club.” The Christian Institute reported that Sea Eagles captain, Daly Cherry-Evans, warned other clubs not to force players to back specific causes.

While team owner, Scott Penn, claimed that the seven players would be open to wearing the rainbow jersey in the future, if properly consulted, a representative of the players said that was nonsense. He pointed out that the players will not “backflip on religious beliefs,” and suggestions they would cave to LGBT pressure was “totally untrue.” The Institute reported, “Rev. Dr. Ma’afu Palu from the Tongan Evangelical Wesleyan Church said he was ‘very proud’ of the players’ stand. ‘Christianity takes a very strong root in our people,’ he explained. ‘Whatever the Bible says is very authoritative to us.'”

We give God praise for the stand which these seven players took in the interest of their Christian faith and God’s glory. In this age of fear and compromise, it is encouraging to see that they are still young people who are refusing to bow to the pressure of the world. The Bible makes it abundantly clear that homosexuality is an abomination in the sight of God, and that God will punish those who engage in such acts. May God’s blessing be upon these seven young men! Amen!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, AUGUST 14 2022

We welcome you to WOM, where we are overcoming through faith in the Word. May God bless you richly today.

According to The Christian Post, Grant Park Christian Academy of Tampa, sued government officials last month to secure its access to the National School Lunch Program, which provided lunches to 56 low-income students enrolled at its school. Alliance Defending Freedom, (ADF), representing Grant Park, announced the approval of the school’s application to continue receiving funds on Monday, August 8.

Grant Park Christian Academy receives funding for its school lunch program from the U.S. Department of Agriculture through the National School Lunch Program. In a new change under Title IX, participating schools lose their ability to get school lunch funding unless they comply with the present administration’s radical expansion of “sex” to include sexual orientation and gender identity in all school operations, including restrooms, dress codes, hiring, and pronouns. Grant Park Christian Academy’s religious beliefs, including its understanding of the nature of the human person and marriage and family, preclude it from complying with this federal mandate to substitute gender identity for biological sex in any aspect of its activities, especially when it comes to males sharing restrooms with females.

On Friday, August 5, state and federal government officials stated that they would approve the school’s application for funding for the 2022-2023 school year. They said they would grant the school’s request for a religious exemption to the mandate and provide the necessary funding. Without approval for their application, Grant Park Christian Academy would not have been reimbursed for each meal it serves to its students—all who come from families below the federal poverty level and rely on the two nutritious meals, plus a snack which the private school provides daily.

“Our kids depend on our school’s lunch program to eat balanced, nutritious meals and we’re breathing a sigh of relief that we can continue this vital outreach to the Grant Park community,” said Pastor Alfred Johnson, president of Faith Action Ministry Alliance, the parent organization of Grant Park Christian Academy. “While it’s unfortunate we even needed to file this lawsuit in the first place, we’re pleased to see it resolved quickly with the assistance of Alliance Defending Freedom.”

We join with Pastor Johnson and Grant Park Christian Academy in celebrating this notable victory. The Bible says, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (Jam. 4:7). The devil is after the children. But we must take a stand against him in behalf of the children. Let us take a bold stand against this wickedness being perpetrated throughout our nation against our school children. Jesus said, “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea” (Matt. 18:6). Amen!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, AUGUST 7, 2022

We welcome you to WOM, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

According to the Christian Post, the United States of America recently resumed participation in and funding of a program that promotes “hate” against Israel. It has pointed out that the President is now giving more U.S. taxpayer money to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees. This is an organization that uses school books to promote violence against Israel and seeks to erase it from the map. This means that US taxpayer money is now once again going directly to an international agency that promotes messages of hate against Israel and seeks to deny its right to exist.

Bassam Tawil, a Muslim Arab based in the Middle East, said that instead of helping the ‘refugees’ improve their lives and seek a better future for themselves and their children, UNRWA will continue to encourage them to remain in refugee camps, by providing them with various services, including education and healthcare. “Why would any Palestinian want to leave a refugee camp when he or she is receiving free education and healthcare?” he asked.

But the White House has painted a different picture. A statement said, “The United States believes that Palestinian refugees deserve to live in dignity, to see their basic needs addressed, and to have hope for the future.” President Biden revealed he was giving another $201 million to the organization.  This contribution makes the United States’ the largest UNRWA donor. These new funds bring the total United States assistance to UNRWA during the Biden Administration to more than $618 million, the White House noted.

But Bassam Tawil pointed out that for 70 years the agency has been giving refugees food, medicine, health care education and housing, and all of those projects “certainly did not contribute to easing tensions or preventing violence in the refugee camps in particular or the region in general. To the contrary, he said, the refugee camps in these areas have produced countless terrorists who were responsible for the killing of thousands of Israelis.” He explained that the message from the American President is, that the refugees need to be patient and “one day they will move to Israel as part of the so-called right of return. This ‘right of return’ means flooding Israel with millions of Palestinian refugees and their descendants as a first step toward its destruction and replacing it with an Iranian-backed Islamist state run by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.”

Let us remember that God Himself deeded that land to Israel, and any man or nation who attempts to or seeks to assist in taking it from them, will surely incur the wrath of Almighty God.  God said, “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you…” (Gen. 12:3). Let us pray sincerely for our president and our nation.

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, JULY 17, 2022

We welcome you to WOM, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

Several hundred people surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ at a Christian festival in the United Kingdom just recently. Festival Manchester, a three-day event in Wythenshawe Park, was hosted by hundreds of local churches in partnership with The Message Trust and Luis Palau Association. Attendees were treated to live music, worship, prayer, and Gospel messages during the three-day festival that ran from July 1 to July 3. A total of approximately three thousand, four hundred and seventy-two (3,472) people made professions of faith in response to hearing the Gospel preached.

“This mission was on a scale not seen in a generation. …Over 65,000 people got to hear about Jesus’ love for them, and over 3,400 responded to the good news they heard,” Andy Hawthorne, CEO and founder of The Message Trust, said. He went on to add, “Festival Manchester was all about introducing people to Jesus and seeing lives changed both now and for eternity. I honestly believe we got to be part of something huge that God is doing.”

Andrew Palau, the son of the late Evangelist Luis Palau, rejoiced at the successful turnout and the many that came to know the Lord, Christianity Today reported.  As is always the case, when the Church of Jesus Christ comes together in unity, spreading the Gospel and encouraging the body of Christ, and proclaiming the goodness of God boldly, great things happen. No doubt, this is exactly what happened in Manchester. Many lives were changed through the proclamation of the Word of God.

According to CBN News, several Christian music artists performed at the festival. These included Lecrae, Guvna B, Kingdom Choir and Matt Redman. Those who gave their lives to Christ were encouraged by event organizers to connect with a local church and use Christian resources to further their relationship with Jesus Christ. The event was preceded by an 18-month outreach in the city that entailed sharing the faith with social action projects. According to The Message Trust, the projects were largely responsible for the significant response to the Gospel at the festival. We join with The Message Trust and Luis Palau Association in giving God praise and thanks for all those who were born again and those who were helped as a result of Festival Manchester. The Bible says, “…there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents” (Lk. 15:10). Let us remember to pray for the converts, that they would become established in the Christian Faith, and grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, JULY 10, 2022

We welcome you to WOM, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

According to Morning Star News, the hopes of two Christian brothers on death row under Pakistan’s blasphemy laws were recently dashed, when a court in Pakistan upheld their death sentence despite lack of evidence against them, their lawyers said. Qaiser Ayub, 45, and Amoon Ayub, 42, have been incarcerated since 2014, and their appeal of the death sentence before the Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi Bench had been pending since 2018. Two Justices took up their appeal on Feb. 28 but did not announce their verdict until last month, their attorney said. The two brothers were very sad and disappointed when informed about the appeal verdict. Qaiser has three children, while Amoon is childless.

The case against the brothers was registered in June 2011 on a complaint by Talagang resident Muhammad Saeed, who alleged he came across a blog containing blasphemous material against Islam’s prophet, Muhammad, Maan said. The blog was created by Muslim friends of Qaiser Ayub who were resentful over a conflict with him, and they had put his name, phone number, email address and office address on their site. Qaiser Ayub’s friends had registered the website under Amoon Ayub’s name, and based on that, as well the contact information on the blog, police filed charges against both brothers and arrested them. But according to their attorney, Khurram Maan, “None of the information proved that either of the two brothers actually authored or posted the blasphemous material on the blogging website.”

The two brothers were busily engaged making a positive contribution to their society. Amoon Ayub was a music teacher at a private school and was running a small charity for welfare of Christians, the United Christian Organization (UCO), with his older brother, Qaiser Ayub. The brothers also operated a website where they posted news about the activities of their organization, he added. “The case against the brothers was based on the blasphemous content posted on a blog which, according to the brothers’ testimonies, was created by the Muslim friends of Qaiser using their contact information from the original website after a fight broke out between them over one of the friend’s sister”, the lawyer said. The defense is hoping that the Supreme Court will administer justice to the falsely accused brothers, charged with blasphemy against Muhammad, which calls for a mandatory death sentence under Section 295-C of Pakistan’s widely condemned blasphemy laws.It is to be noted, Pakistan is ranked eighth on Open Doors’ 2022 World Watch List of the 50 countries where it is most difficult to be a Christian. The country had the second-highest number of Christians killed for their faith, behind Nigeria, with 620 slain during the reporting period from October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021. Pakistan had the fourth-highest number of churches attacked or closed. Let us pray that God would deliver Qaiser and Amoon from what the enemy intends for them. “The Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment” (2Pet. 2:9).

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, JUNE 26, 2022

We welcome you to WOM, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

A female Christian student is suing her former graduate school, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), after the university disciplined her for sharing her Christian views with fellow students. In February, officials at SIUE issued no-contact orders against 26-year-old Maggie DeJong, who graduated from the school just last month, after three students complained that her beliefs constituted “harassment” and “discrimination.” But Maggie DeJong, who was enrolled in SIUE’s Art Therapy program, filed a federal lawsuit against the school recently for violating her constitutional rights. She is being represented by the conservative Christian advocacy legal group Alliance Defending Freedom, (ADF) which filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.

“Rather than accept and embrace diverse ideological perspectives, SIUE officials are determined to force their graduate students to think and speak exactly the same—or stay silent—and they will punish anyone who steps out of line,” ADF Senior Counsel, Gregg Walters, said in a statement.  “Maggie has always respectfully shared her religious or political views, which every student is entitled to do under the First Amendment,” Walters continued. “It is a sad day for civil dialogue and freedom of speech when universities can issue gag orders like those issued against Maggie for nothing more than expressing her beliefs—beliefs held by millions of Americans.”

According to the civil complaint, DeJong regularly posted her opinions on her social media accounts, sent messages to classmates, and participated in class discussions on various topics, including religion, politics, critical race theory (CRT), COVID-19 regulations and censorship. “Under the Art Therapy Program’s ‘anti-oppressive framework’ and calls for ‘social justice,’ Ms. DeJong’s speech was often seen as ‘harmful,'” the lawsuit states.

In response, the SIUE issued the no-contact orders against Maggie DeJong and threatened to take disciplinary action against her if she continued to violate the orders. Additionally, the Art Therapy program director e-mailed over 30 students in the program confirming that DeJong was under investigation in light of allegations of “misconduct” and “oppressive acts.” The investigation against DeJong was later dropped after ADF attorneys sent a letter to the University contending that the school’s actions against the former grad student for her beliefs were unconstitutional.

The Bible encourages us to “Earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints,” (Jude 3). This is exactly what Maggie DeJong is doing in filing her lawsuit against the university. As God’s people, we must no longer sit back and allow the devil and his agents to muzzle us. Please remember to pray for Maggie, that she would prevail in this matter and help to clear the way for other Christian students in universities throughout our nation. Amen!

We welcome you to WOM, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

When a father is missing in the home or missing from the home, the home is exposed to life-changing, life-altering, life-shattering experiences that can impact a child throughout his entire lifetime. Even more tragic still, is the fact that these cycles repeat themselves when these children grow into adulthood and have children of their own.

There is overwhelming evidence that when a Christian father attends worship service on a regular basis, the rest of the family follows.  A study commissioned in 2000, found that when both fathers and mothers attended church regularly, approximately 41% of the children would continue to go to church upon reaching adulthood.  Amazingly, when the father attends church on an irregular basis, 60% of the children reaching adulthood will be irregular attendees or drop out altogether.  When the father doesn’t ever attend church, only 2% of children that grow into adulthood will attend church, and nearly none of them ever become Christians.  When this same equation is with the mother, the numbers are not nearly as drastic.  The conclusion is that fathers have the greatest influence on their children’s lives and have the most impact on their becoming Christians and attending church regularly as adults.

What this shows is that when the father takes the church and Christianity seriously, almost all of his children will do the same.  When he doesn’t care about Jesus Christ, the Bible, or the church, then the overwhelming majority of his children won’t either.  This shows the critical importance of a godly father.  It also demonstrates the importance of the father being the spiritual head of the family.  His position is likened to that of the high priest in the Old Testament.  As the priest lives and performs his duties and takes them seriously without hypocrisy or duplicity, so too must the father.  You simply cannot fool children.

The importance of children coming to saving faith in Jesus Christ can be broken down as follows: 7% of saved children will help lead both of their parents to faith in Jesus Christ. 23% of saved wives and mothers will help lead their husbands and children to faith in Jesus Christ. And 94% of saved husbands and fathers will help lead their entire family to faith in Jesus Christ.

Let me say that all of these facts align with broader findings about the importance of fathers. They play a vital role in preventing poverty, teen pregnancy, delinquency, drug use, and school dropout. The message we should take from all of this is very clear: Fathers do matter. If we want our children to follow Jesus, we must lead by example. Even in this difficult age in which we live, fathers have a unique ability and responsibility to spiritually shepherd their families, and set an example for their children to follow. Amen!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, JUNE 12, 2022

We welcome you to WOM, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

Several Tampa Bay Rays baseball players declined to wear customized uniforms worn by their teammates for the team’s annual LGBT pride night Saturday June 4. They cited the celebration of LGBT activism as a conflict with their Christian faith. The Rays held an LGBT pride night on Saturday during the team’s home game against the Chicago White Sox at Tropicana Field. The night is one of several events hosted by MLB teams during the month recognized by LGBT activists as “pride month.”

The Rays had announced on Twitter that the team’s players would wear Rays uniforms with gay pride rainbow-colored sunburst on their sleeves and baseball caps with the Tampa Bay Rays logo emblazoned with the rainbow colors. But while most players wore the uniforms, several team members declined to wear the customized clothing and opted rather to wear their standard uniforms.  The reason they gave for their action is that the LGBT activism conflicted with the tenets of their Christian faith. One of the dissenting players, Jason Adam, elaborated in an interview with The Tampa Bay Times. He said, “A lot of it comes down to faith, a faith-based decision. It’s a hard decision. Because ultimately we all said what we want is [for] them to know that all are welcomed and loved here. But when we put it on our bodies, I think a lot of guys decided that it’s just a lifestyle … that maybe we don’t want to encourage.  If we believe in Jesus, who’s encouraged us to live a lifestyle that would abstain from that behavior, just like (Jesus) encourages me as a heterosexual male to abstain from sex outside the confines of marriage. It’s no different.”

Adam defended his stance as “not judgmental” and “not looking down.” He stressed that “we love these men and women, we care about them, and we want them to feel safe and welcome here.” The Times identified the other players who declined to wear the Pride-themed uniforms as pitchers Jalen Beeks, Brooks Raley, Jeffrey Springs and Ryan Thompson. In a statement to local news outlet WFLA, Thompson asserted that he and his four teammates spent a couple of weeks in prayer and study of the Scripture on the subject at hand to arrive at their decision.

We join with Evangelist Franklin Graham, who praised those Rays players who refused to wear the LGBT-endorsing clothing. He said, “I appreciate these Tampa Bay Rays players who said no to endorsing and celebrating sin during Saturday night’s game,” he wrote on Face Book last Monday. “Followers of Jesus Christ must love everyone, but they must also stand with the truth of God’s Word and share that truth with a lost and dying world.” May God’s blessing be upon those players who took their stand for the Kingdom of God. Amen!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, JULY 31, 2022

We welcome you to WOM, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

According to World Net Daily (WND), It was only a few days ago that Franklin Graham, who heads the international Christian ministry Samaritan’s Purse, issued a serious warning about a leftist plan in Congress that purportedly would establish same-sex “marriage” in law. He noted the “deceptively named ‘Respect for Marriage Act'” and said it would create significant problems for Americans. As a result, a letter has been sent by dozens of leaders of the nation’s biggest Christian and conservative organizations to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell asking him to reject the agenda outright.

The letter, from “the heads of national and state organizations leading the effort to protect life, religious liberty, free speech and the family,” pointed out that those who assembled H.R. 8404, the promotion of same-sex “marriage, did much more than just that. “It is a startling expansion of what marriage means – and who may be sued if they disagree – that threatens the freedom of numerous ‘decent and honorable’ Americans of different faiths, creeds, and walks of life who wish to live consistent with their deeply held beliefs,” the letter said. It explained that the warning about attacks on Christians and others over marriage already was included in the opinion that created the “right.”

Those signing the letter included officials for Alliance Defending Freedom, the Heritage Foundation, Family Research Council, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Concerned Women for America, Christian Legal Society, First Liberty Institute, Liberty Counsel and dozens more. Michael P. Farris of the ADF said, “When culture and political institutions fail to respect the institution of marriage and instead promote open aggression against those who believe that marriage is between a man and woman, they not only undermine human flourishing but seriously harm religious freedom. Despite claims from its sponsors, the so-called ‘Respect for Marriage Act’ doesn’t simply codify the Obergefell decision. It forces the federal government to recognize without limit any marriage definitions that a state adopts. It also empowers the government to punish millions of Americans who hold decent and honorable beliefs about marriage—beliefs that have existed since time immemorial—exposing citizens to predatory lawsuits and even endangering the nonprofit status of faith-based organizations.”

Evangelist Graham is requesting that we, as God’s people, pray for God’s intervention as this bill moves on to the Senate? “Only He can save us from our evil and rebellious ways”, he said. God’s Word says that marriage is to be between one man and one woman—not two men, not two women. Let us respond to the call for prayer and pray as never before for this bill to be defeated, so as to save our nation from the wrath of God. Amen!
