BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, JULY 26, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

Singing in church services during the coronavirus pandemic is prohibited in California. But a group of church leaders filed a federal lawsuit on Wednesday July 15, claiming that rule violates their constitutional rights. The northern California churches claim that Governor Gavin Newsom’s latest order infringes on their right to worship freely. The church groups are based in Mendocino and Butte counties, two counties that have not been placed on the state-wide monitoring list because their positivity rate has not grown rapidly. On July 1, state health officials restricted singing and chanting during indoor church services. By July 13, Governor Newsom announced a state-wide health order to restrict indoor restaurants, hair salons, gyms and church gatherings.

The evangelical Christian churches who filed the lawsuit include the Calvary Chapel of Ukiah, the Calvary Chapel of Fort Bragg and the River of Life Church in Oroville. In their complaint, filed in the Eastern District of California, the church leaders stated that they are being singled out with a prohibition on singing while other groups are allowed to protest in large gatherings.  The churches claim they are “committed to the teachings of the Bible” and they hold weekly worship services that include “singing, prayer, recitation of scripture, and a sermon preached by the pastor.” They claim that their First Amendment right to free exercise of religion, freedom of speech and other rights are being violated by what they call the state’s “worship ban.” The church leaders named Governor Newsom, California Public Health Officer, Sonia Angell, and the health officers in Mendocino and Butte counties as defendants.

The church groups are represented by Robert Tyler with Tyler & Bursch, as well as the American Center for Law & Justice. Previously, Tyler represented a coalition of Southern California church leaders in their fight to force the state of California to reopen churches at the end of May. At that same time, the Department of Justice sent a letter to Governor Newsom telling him that the state should do more to accommodate churches during the pandemic so their religious freedoms would not be violated.

The foregoing facts make it abundantly clear that the devil has targeted the church in this current crisis. But let us as God’s people continue to prophesy to the church of Jesus Christ. Say what Jesus the head of the church said, “….I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matt. 16:18).

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, JULY 19, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

The lawyer representing two churches in Chicago fighting the city’s coronavirus measures said he never thought that he would live to see the day when city leaders would threaten to bulldoze a church for allowing its congregation to worship. Matt Staver, the founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, said recently that churches which he represents received letters from the city’s Board of Health that declared them “public nuisances.” This means that legally, it opens up these churches to a lot of problems. Staver read the letter on air that said the department “has the power and duty to cause all nuisances affecting the health of the public to be abated.” Staver said the letter threatened a “summary abatement,” which is the legal expression for the destruction of the facility without any judicial process or further notice.

Staver said the rule of law in the state is clear. He said, if there is a summary abatement for an animal “you just take them down;” and if it is issued for a building you “simply bulldoze it.” He said the addition of the word “summary” is telling. That means the city can do anything it wants to stop the nuisance. Staver said that the order was issued just a day after President Trump declared that churches are essential. He also pointed out that the Justice Department has filed its own brief in Illinois challenging all the statewide orders. He told the Todd Starnes Radio Show that his organization filed a request for an emergency injunction pending appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court.

Rev. Cristian Ionescu, the pastor of one of the churches, Elim Romanian Church, told the Todd Starnes Show earlier that he has been hit with citations already for conducting worship services against the city’s wishes. Metro Praise International’s Pastor Joe Wyrostek told NBC Chicago that his church was also hit with a “summary abatement” if they continue to hold services with more than 10 people. “We are very disappointed with all of this, including not being considered as essential in the beginning, as a church,” Wyrostek said. Staver said one of the Facebook Live videos filmed from outside Pastor Ionecu’s church apparently picked up the sound of nearby gunfire. The city has been criticized for devoting its police force to monitoring churches, while violence overtakes it.

It is absolutely important for us to continue praying for the church of Jesus Christ. Right in our own nation, it is shocking to learn what is happening. Can you imagine that there are threats within our own nation to bulldoze churches? Don’t be surprised because the devil is bitterly against God’s people wherever there are. Let us pray for the Churches in Chicago that God would show up for them mightily.

THE YEAR OF GOD’S GLORY

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, JULY 12, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

China’s communist government is warning elderly Christians that they will lose basic benefits if they do not stop practicing their Christian faith. These benefits include housing, food, clothing and medical care.  Bitter Winter, an online magazine about religious liberty and human rights in China, recently made the report. A woman in her sixties, was receiving a monthly subsidy 250 RMB (about $35) from the government since 2018, the year her husband died. She was told by government authorities that unless she removed images of Jesus from her home, her benefits would be discontinued.  “Because the Communist Party feeds you,” they told the woman, “you must only believe in it, not God.” Shortly thereafter, the pension was canceled because she refused to remove the symbols.

Reggie Littlejohn, founder and president of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers, said that it is heartbreaking and outrageous that widows and other elderly persons are being forced to renounce their faith in God in order to receive assistance. For many, they may need these funds to survive. She further emphasized that It is a pathetic act of cowardice to force desperate widows to choose between their survival and their God. The widow, who refused to renounce her faith potentially in the face of abject poverty, is heroic. Women’s Rights Without Frontiers, bring love and compassion to widows, along with a monthly stipend of $25.

Bitter Winter noted that just weeks ago, officials in Fuzhou forced an 80-year-old Christian women to cover up a cross image in her home, again threatening her subsistence allowance. Authorities also have begun an intensive campaign of “return” inspections “to make sure that people don’t resume practicing their faith. In one case, government bureaucrats threatened a believer in a nursing home, who has been paralyzed for eight years. They threatened to drive him out of the residence if he continued his belief in God.

“The officials said that I am supposed to believe in the Communist Party since it feeds me, or else all my social benefits would be canceled,” he said. “I won’t give up my faith no matter how the government pursues me. If it cancels my benefits, I will meet God earlier.”

Let us remember to pray specially for our elderly brethren in China. It is not easy for them, but God is able to give them the necessary grace to sustain them. He said, “And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.” (Isa. 46:40). Amen!

THE YEAR OF GOD’S GLORY

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, JULY 05, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

At the second Continental Congress during the summer of 1776, Thomas Jefferson of Virginia was assigned the task of drafting The Declaration of Independence. This document is something that we the people of this great nation should all be grateful to God for. It was indeed a very radical document. This was evident in that it reflected a 180-degree change at the very core of societal attitudes in America at that time. The idea that farmers, merchants and lawyers could secede from a kingdom and fight and win a war against the king’s army was phenomenal. It was the end result of the multigenerational movement that was articulated in the declaration.

The two central values of the declaration are the origins of human liberty and the legitimacy of popular government. Jefferson made it abundantly clear that our humanity is a gift from God our creator and that He has endowed us with certain inalienable rights which we should hold dear. These include free speech, free association, freedom of religion, self-defense, privacy, and fairness, just to name a few.

The view that each individual possessed natural rights was not accepted by any government in 1776. All governments had rejected the idea and employed violence to suppress it. To the minds of those in government in the mid-18th century, the king was divine and therefore could do no wrong.  The parliament served not as the people’s representatives but rather to help the king raise revenue. Thomas Jefferson and his colleagues had no difficulty breaking away from this system. Unlike the French, who destroyed their monarchy, the American colonists seceded from theirs; and they did so embracing natural rights. The idea that each human being possesses inherent natural rights by virtue of one’s humanity is not just an academic argument. It has real-life consequences, which Jefferson recognized. This has helped to furnish us with the freedom and quality of life which we enjoy in this nation today.

As we celebrate another milestone in the existence of this great nation of ours, let us give God praise and thanks. There is absolutely

no doubt that He has a purpose for this nation. But in order for that purpose to be realized, we must make Him the Lord of our land. The Word of God says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…” (Ps. 33:12). Let us pray earnestly for our nation that God would be given His rightful place as Lord, so that His purpose can come to fruition in the midst of us. Amen!

THE YEAR OF GOD’S GLORY

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, JUNE 28, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

According to an article in Christian Post, recent protests with emphasis on race relations have employed the same divisive language and discriminatory mindset which the protesters say they are seeking to change. The movement is complicit in the very process it opposes. A divide-and conquer mindset cannot unify and overcome. An entirely different approach is needed. The problem with race is that historically, those in authority have protected their privilege and power by drawing racial lines at convenient points along the road of humanity’s existence. This has enabled the mere concept of race to become a destructive element.

The human solution to this problem is to attempt to force change through outward measures which can and do facilitate improvements. But they cannot get to the root of the problem in order to achieve effective and lasting change, because they assume that changed laws will cultivate moral integrity. Laws work only through the threat of force by a policing and the judicial system which punishes law-breakers. Yet those demanding change use the same power-based guidelines as the system they oppose. And when the collective moral compass is broken, laws mandating equality are easily side-stepped and misapplied. Unquestionably, legal rights are necessary to eradicate injustice and move all citizens toward true equality. But they will never be adequate enough.

Real change begins on the inside of mankind as he repents and enters into a genuine relationship with the true and living God. This is where we experience and learn to express God’s love. Without this love, every effort of ours will still result in division. You cannot be racist toward someone you love. Laws cannot achieve what God does through Christ by writing his law of love upon our hearts.  There is no other way to achieve a world freed from racism. Transformed hearts must guide us in the difficult task of creating a more just, compassionate, and unified world, and only God has the power to transform one’s heart.

Ending racism is a necessary task. But before demanding change, let us encourage one another to allow God to dismantle the strongholds of evil resident within us, and replace them with divine love, mutual respect, and a true and lasting vision of equality. A change on the inside is necessary to assure effective change on the outside. The goal to end racism will forever elude us unless we allow God to be an integral part of the equation for this change.

THE YEAR OF GOD’S GLORY

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, JUNE 21, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. We also extend a special welcome to all the fathers. May God bless you on this Father’s Day.

The statistics are sobering. When the mother is a believer but the father is not, the children are not nearly as inclined to stay involved in the church. But when the father walks with Christ and leads his family that way, the children will be much more rooted in the church as they grow older. The father sets the tone for his children’s walk with God.

Of course, mothers can and should play their part in talking about Christ to their children, using teachable moments throughout the day to bring up spiritual realities. There are also wonderful stories of a mother’s winsome faith opening up the heart of a child to follow, despite an absent or antagonistic father. But those stories tend to be the exception. God designed fathers to be the pacesetters for the faith in their families. It is an awesome privilege and responsibility. Yet many fathers abdicate their role here to the mothers, the churches, or to Christian schools. Sometimes they have no vibrant faith in Christ to pass on. At other times, their faith is real, but they feel incompetent to teach or lead spiritually.

But this is what I suggest to young fathers. Gather your family together, open the Word of God and read, then pray together. You don’t have to be a biblical scholar to do this. And if you need more structure, there are numerous family devotional resources available to you. This is how the seeds of faith are planted and watered in your family.

The reality is that the best of us fathers will make mistakes. But even with our mistakes, God will still use us to point our children to Him. When we say or do something wrong to our children, we should confess it to God and ask for His forgiveness.  But here is where we miss it many times as fathers.  We fail to say to our children, “I am sorry.  I was wrong.  Please forgive me.  I love you.” Many young people especially young men are emotionally starved for words of assurance, affirmation and encouragement from their fathers.

This Father’s Day, if you are a father, take time to give thanks to God for the awesome privilege of being a father, and ask Him for wisdom and empowerment to be the best father you can possibly be. Let God say about you what He said about Abraham,”For I know him that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment….” (Gen. 18:19).

THE YEAR OF GOD’S GLORY

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, JUNE 14, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

In the midst of the current pandemic and its effects, divisions in our nation today seem wider than ever before as a spirit of racism has once again engulfed our nation.  Violence and unrest continue night after night on streets across America.  What should be our immediate response as Christians? We should pray. The Bible reminds us to pray for those who are in governmental authority, because they have been placed there by God (see Romans 13:1).  We are to pray for God’s wisdom to prevail in every decision making process.  We are to pray for those who advise them.  We are to pray that the will of God be done in our nation as it is done in heaven.

The book of Proverbs tells us, “The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; He guides it wherever He pleases” (Prov. 21:1). We could take that word king and replace it with president, governor or anyone else in a position of power. God is in control. When we see problems in our country, we apportion blame to the political leaders for the most part. But when God sees a breakdown in the country, He points His finger at His people. He says “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land” (2 Chron. 7:14). God is saying, “I’m looking for My people to live godly lives and turn from personal sins.” He then promises, “I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” In light of this truth, we the people of God need to pray.

As we pray, even racism will be addressed by the Lord.  In the words of Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick “America must turn to God” to overcome race-related problems. He pointed out that we have racism in our country, but that it is really an issue of love. He said, “It’s loving God. You cannot love your fellow man, if you don’t love

God — and we have a country where we’ve been working really hard, particularly on the left, to kick God out. We need a culture change to address this racism. You cannot change the culture of a country until you change the character of mankind … And you can’t change that unless you change the heart.”

The human race sprang from one man and that makes us indeed one family. According to Acts 17:26, God “has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on the face of the earth, and has determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings.” God is still on His throne.  Let us pray earnestly for our nation at this time.

THE YEAR OF GOD’S GLORY

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, June 7, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

“Wisconsin City refuses to arrest rioters, but hands out hefty fines to churches with more than 50 worshippers.” This was the caption in The Christian Post a few days ago. The article made it absolutely clear that the city of Wisconsin seems to be more concerned about reining in the worship of God in church than reining in criminals who have been looting people’s businesses.

The article went on to speak about the violent riots in Wisconsin’s capital of Madison, where a group of about 150 demonstrators threw rocks at police officers last Saturday night, according to WITI-TV.  As a result of all the stone throwing, vandalism and violence, at least 75 stores were damaged or looted. Despite the endless chaos and property damage, the Madison Police Department made only three arrests. The interim Madison Police Chief was not ashamed to say that his officers stood back during the protests.  But while the police chief didn’t do much to prevent the barrage of looting in the city of Wisconsin, the officials want citizens to know that church services of more than 50 people will absolutely not be tolerated.

According to the city of Madison’s website “Mass Gathering inside a commercial facility is permitted with fifty (50) persons or less. Individuals must maintain physical distancing.” Wisconsin pastors were reportedly warned by health officials from Madison and Dane counties that if they opened their churches and had crowds of more than 50 people at their religious services, they would face a fine of $1,000. The letter sent out to religious leaders allegedly threatened that there could be “government watchers” present at church services. However, hundreds of people protesting and rioting would not warrant any fine whatsoever in Madison. It is indeed amazing to see how many leaders in our society are amassing themselves against the church while they overlook glaring atrocities before their eyes. They are ready to punish the church of Jesus Christ over trivial matters while they ignore rebellion and wickedness. But this should not surprise us. Jesus said, “If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on account of this the world hates you.” (Jn. 15:19). So, from these words of our Lord, we know what to expect from the world. Let us, therefore, purpose in our hearts to please God no matter what may be the cost. Amen!

THE YEAR OF GOD’S GLORY

_____________________________________________________________________

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, May 24, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

According to a recent survey, more than eight in 10 Americans say they believe in God, and a majority of them say they think God is using the coronavirus outbreak to get the attention of mankind. The survey found that a total of 82 percent of Americans confess a belief in God, with most of them (80 percent) saying they believed in God before the pandemic and 2 percent saying their belief in God developed after the pandemic.

According to the survey which was carried out by the University of Chicago Divinity School and the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, among Americans who believe in God, 63 percent agree that God is using the pandemic to tell humanity to change how we are living, while 31 percent agree strongly and another 31 percent say they somewhat agree with the statement.

In addition, 55 percent of those who believe in God say they think that God will protect them from getting infected by the virus. But 9 percent of those who believe in God are of the opinion that God has abandoned humanity. Seventeen percent of Americans say they don’t believe in God. Among all Americans – not just those who believe in God, but also those who do not believe in God, about 52 percent of them believe that God is telling humanity to change the way they are living. Meanwhile, 26 percent of Americans say the coronavirus outbreak has made their sense of religious faith or spirituality stronger, while 1 percent say that their faith is now weaker. Most Americans, a total of 73 percent, say their faith is the same.

It is a fact that with all that is happening presently across the earth regarding COVID-19, God is seeking to get the attention of mankind. There are times when God will use some very drastic measures in His attempt to gain our interest. From the survey, it is very clear that there are those who are positively impacted by what God has permitted. Let us pray that men and women will not only be impacted but that they would submit themselves to God and come to know Him whom to know is life eternal. Amen!

THE YEAR OF GOD’S GLORY

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY, May 17, 2020

We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.

The church of Jesus Christ today around the world is in a period of transition.  This is not an event.  It is a LIFE CHANGER.  The church will never be the same.

For almost 2 months there has been the closure of churches all around the globe leaving us at the blessing and mercy of the virtual setting. Although the church is not the physical structure in which we gather, yet the church is in essence a gathering together of believers in Christ. It is for that reason why the true believers yearn to meet together as we are commanded in the scriptures not to forsake the assembling of yourselves together. Jesus said, where two or three are gathered together in His name, He is in the midst. The corporate prayer and worship that ascend to God creates a path in the realm of the spirit for God to move in our behalf.  It clears the atmosphere, it causes God to rend the heavens and come down, for He dwells in the praises of His people.  Thus, the inability of the church to pray and praise corporately weakens the body of Christ but promotes the devil’s agenda.

This is a time for all believers to examine themselves to see whether they are in the faith.  It is a time for deep heart-searching to see whose agenda is prevailing in their lives, whether it is God’s, the devil’s or their own. With hearts made clean, let the church arise as never before and be the strong and glorious church that the Savior is coming back for.  This is the time for the earth to be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. As the coronavirus pandemic covers the globe, may the power of God sweep across the earth with healings, signs, wonders and mighty deeds.

It is time to transition from a sleeping body to one that is fully awake –awakened to the fact that the night is far spent and the day of the Lord’s return is at hand.  It is time to transition from mere religious activities to the demonstration of the love and power of God.  It is time to transition from silence to a voice that is heard loudly throughout the earth and in every rank of human society, from the nobles, presidents, prime ministers and governors to the unknown, poor, helpless and homeless.  It is time to let the CHURCH be the CHURCH! Amen!
