We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.
In the midst of the current pandemic and its effects, divisions in our nation today seem wider than ever before as a spirit of racism has once again engulfed our nation. Violence and unrest continue night after night on streets across America. What should be our immediate response as Christians? We should pray. The Bible reminds us to pray for those who are in governmental authority, because they have been placed there by God (see Romans 13:1). We are to pray for God’s wisdom to prevail in every decision making process. We are to pray for those who advise them. We are to pray that the will of God be done in our nation as it is done in heaven.
The book of Proverbs tells us, “The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; He guides it wherever He pleases” (Prov. 21:1). We could take that word king and replace it with president, governor or anyone else in a position of power. God is in control. When we see problems in our country, we apportion blame to the political leaders for the most part. But when God sees a breakdown in the country, He points His finger at His people. He says “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land” (2 Chron. 7:14). God is saying, “I’m looking for My people to live godly lives and turn from personal sins.” He then promises, “I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” In light of this truth, we the people of God need to pray.
As we pray, even racism will be addressed by the Lord. In the words of Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick “America must turn to God” to overcome race-related problems. He pointed out that we have racism in our country, but that it is really an issue of love. He said, “It’s loving God. You cannot love your fellow man, if you don’t love
God — and we have a country where we’ve been working really hard, particularly on the left, to kick God out. We need a culture change to address this racism. You cannot change the culture of a country until you change the character of mankind … And you can’t change that unless you change the heart.”
The human race sprang from one man and that makes us indeed one family. According to Acts 17:26, God “has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on the face of the earth, and has determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings.” God is still on His throne. Let us pray earnestly for our nation at this time.
