We welcome you to FEA, where we are overcoming through the power of the Word. May God bless you richly today.
According to an article in Christian Post, recent protests with emphasis on race relations have employed the same divisive language and discriminatory mindset which the protesters say they are seeking to change. The movement is complicit in the very process it opposes. A divide-and conquer mindset cannot unify and overcome. An entirely different approach is needed. The problem with race is that historically, those in authority have protected their privilege and power by drawing racial lines at convenient points along the road of humanity’s existence. This has enabled the mere concept of race to become a destructive element.
The human solution to this problem is to attempt to force change through outward measures which can and do facilitate improvements. But they cannot get to the root of the problem in order to achieve effective and lasting change, because they assume that changed laws will cultivate moral integrity. Laws work only through the threat of force by a policing and the judicial system which punishes law-breakers. Yet those demanding change use the same power-based guidelines as the system they oppose. And when the collective moral compass is broken, laws mandating equality are easily side-stepped and misapplied. Unquestionably, legal rights are necessary to eradicate injustice and move all citizens toward true equality. But they will never be adequate enough.
Real change begins on the inside of mankind as he repents and enters into a genuine relationship with the true and living God. This is where we experience and learn to express God’s love. Without this love, every effort of ours will still result in division. You cannot be racist toward someone you love. Laws cannot achieve what God does through Christ by writing his law of love upon our hearts. There is no other way to achieve a world freed from racism. Transformed hearts must guide us in the difficult task of creating a more just, compassionate, and unified world, and only God has the power to transform one’s heart.
Ending racism is a necessary task. But before demanding change, let us encourage one another to allow God to dismantle the strongholds of evil resident within us, and replace them with divine love, mutual respect, and a true and lasting vision of equality. A change on the inside is necessary to assure effective change on the outside. The goal to end racism will forever elude us unless we allow God to be an integral part of the equation for this change.
