We give God praise and thanks for another day of worship. We are glad that you have come. May you be blessed today.
Two jailed South Sudanese pastors have been set free after a judge found them guilty, but ruled that they already served their sentences. Yat Michael and Peter Yen were convicted respectively of breaching the peace and managing a criminal or terrorist organization. Michael and Yen together faced six charges, but were not convicted of four of them, including undermining the constitutional system and espionage—charges which carry punishments of the death penalty or life imprisonment.
Last December, Michael was imprisoned after preaching at Khartoum Bahri Evangelical Church. This church had been harassed by the government as Muslim investors tried to take it over, according to Morning Star News. In January, Yen was arrested after inquiring about Michael’s disappearance. Members of the National Intelligence and Security Services, whom many believe is run by radical Islamists, were responsible for Michael and Yen’s arrests.
We thank God for the release of these two pastors. These are indeed the last of the last days. Jesus said that all this would happen in the end time,”…they shall lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name sake.” (Lk. 21:12). Such persecution has not reached us as yet, but it may, sooner than we think. Let us rededicate our lives to God and be ready to take our stand for Him.

Spanish Scripture: (Mark 6:31)
“ Y como no tenían tiempo ni para comer, pues era tanta la gente que iba y venía, Jesús les dijo: —Vengan conmigo ustedes solos a un lugar tranquilo y descansen un poco.”
-Marcos 6:31 (NVI)
SLACK TIDE
I find it fascinating to consider the pull of the moon on our great oceans, which creates high and low tides. At the changing of the tide, there is a brief period of time called “slack tide” when the water is neither high nor low. According to scientists, this is when the water is “unstressed.” It is a quiet pause before the surging of tidal flow begins again.
Sometimes in our busy schedules we may feel pulled in different directions by competing responsibilities. In Jesus’ ministry, we see how He understood the demands made on His followers and the need for rest. Returning from a traveling ministry in teams of two, the Twelve reported the wonderful things that God had done through them (Mark 6:7-13,30). But Jesus responded: “’Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.’ For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves”. (vv.31-32).
What responsibilities are pulling on you today? It is certainly acceptable to plan some rest and relaxation time to rejuvenate your body and soul for more fruitful service to others. Jesus advised it, and we all need it. He will meet you there. –Dennis Fisher
