BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY APRIL 10, 2016

Once again we welcome you to FEA, where we’re holding forth the Word of life. May God’s life be imparted to you as we worship.

Last week we shared with you how the governor of Georgia vetoed an important religious liberty bill. However, local conservative groups are now applauding the Governor of Mississippi, Phil Bryant, for signing into law on Tuesday a similar bill, which protects opponents of gay marriage from being punished for their beliefs. The governor signed House Bill 1523, also called the “Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act.”

Family Research Council President, Tony Perkins, said in a statement that the new law “…gives fresh momentum to efforts on the federal and state level to stop government discrimination against people who believe that marriage is between a man and a woman.” He applauded both the Governor and the Lt. Governor, along with the House Speaker for standing up for the fundamental freedoms of the people whom they represent. But Americans United for Separation of Church and State, released a statement denouncing the new law. They said that the law could permit discrimination based on religion against Mississippians, including LGBT persons.

It is worth noting that this particular bill protects pastors, churches and individuals from being forced to officiate at gay wedding ceremonies. It also protects other individuals and small business owners, such as florists, bakers and photographers from being compelled to perform services at a gay wedding. Finally, it prevents the LGBT extremists from forcing their ideology on Mississippi and allowing men to force their way into female facilities because the men claim that they identify as females.

In light of the current Sodom-and-Gomorrah trend in our society, this measure can have only a positive effect on any state that does it. Could it be that God is seeking to extend His hand of mercy to the states in our nation one by one before He pours out His wrath? This is something worth thinking about.

I Take Your Hand Sweet Jesus

When my world falls down around me
And the ground is sinking sand
When peace can’t be found on this earth
I reach out for your hand.

When your hand wraps ‘round my own
A strength pours from your soul
It brings to me a quiet calm.
Til once again I’m Whole

A peace beyond all reason
A rest there in your touch
Something in your quiet words
My heart yearns for so much…

If I but rest my worries
Upon your shoulder there
Strength that pours forth from your soul
Will wash away each care.

Like a cool sweet taste of water
For a tired thirsty man
My heart finds peace, my soul is calm
When I reach out for your hand.

Spanish Scripture: (Psalm 30:11)
“Convertiste mi lamento en danza;
me quitaste la ropa de luto y me vestiste de fiesta…”-
