BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY JULY 10, 2016

Welcome to FEA! We give God praised and thanks that you are here today. May you be richly blessed in Him.
Morning Star News recently reported that a 9-year-old boy named Nassif Malagara, was severely burned by his 36-year-old Muslim father, Abubakar Malagara. The incident occurred in eastern Uganda on June 9, after his father caught him not observing the Ramadan fast. But approximately four days earlier, the child had decided to give his life to Jesus Christ after a neighbor took him to a church outside the village. The pastor told Morning Star News that when the boy came to the church he remained after the service and told him that he wanted to receive Jesus as his personal Savior. The pastor said that he was somewhat hesitant in responding to the boy’s request. However, after his continued insistence, the pastor said he prayed with him and he left.
Following the experience, the boy expressed to his father and stepmother that he no longer wanted to attend the Islamic school or take part in Muslim activities. The father and stepmother became very angry when they learned that the boy had converted to Christianity. Despite Nassif’s conversion, the parents fully expected him to observe the Ramadan fast. He told Morning Star News that he starved for two days before he hid and went to his neighbor’s house for food.
On June 9, the boy’s father caught him eating and began to beat him with sticks. Although Nassif initially escaped from his father and hid, his father eventually found him and tied him to a banana tree. “He went into the house,” the boy reported, “and came back with a hot piece of wood. The banana tree had dry leaves, which caught fire and caused serious burns on my body.”
Fortunately for Nassif, his neighbors heard his screams, untied him from the tree and took him to a hospital to get his burns treated. His father was arrested by the police officers after residents alerted the authorities about the abuse.
Despite all the wickedness that surrounds us today, God is still at work, even in the lives of children. This 9-year-old boy, with his purpose and determination to serve God, puts a lot of adults to shame. Let us pray for little Nassif that the light of God would so shine through him that his father and mother would be able to see their way out of the darkness of Islam as he did.
